Who do you guys think will be the biggest SEC impact true freshmen in 2009?

My opinion...

Trent Richardson (Alabama): Has everything that you are looking for in a Coach Saban, Alabama style running back: power, balance, speed, etc. Should form a good combination with Mark Ingram.

Andre Debose (Florida): The perfect replacement for Percy Harvin. Meyer has a guy that will fit his system to a tee here.

Rueben Randle (LSU): The next in line of big, physical specimen wideouts for the Tigers.

Any more? Thoughts?

Marlon Brown of GA. If Aaron Murray can step up as a freshman, or Joe Cox can show he is a SEC caliber QB, Marlon Brown should a true impact player.

Jeffrey and Gilmore of USCeast.

Marsalis Teague of Tennessee.

And unfortunately for us....

Patrick Patterson of Ole Miss.

I hate to say it, but Nukeese Richardson - UcheaT. They don't have a lot of offensive talent, so he will be their offense.
Chad Bumphis also should make an big impact too. MSU doesn't have much of an offense either, and Mullens wants to get it to their big playmakers.

knowing Coach Saban, I would not be surprised to see Dre Kirkpatrick make a big impact for Alabama. You combine his talent + Saban's expertise/teaching on DB's, and you've gotta think he will be ready to contribute right away for BAMA.

Mike Marrow might have a chance to make a significant impact at H-Back. Travis McCall's graduation left a big hole to fill all the other guys appear to be true tight ends.

Trentis primed to make a lot of noise out of the gate depending on how it goes with Upchurch's injury (maybe even regardless of what happens). Of course, we'll have to see how the line looks. Dre Kirkpatrick is also in a great position to make an immediate impact.

Like another poster said, Marlon Brown could come out of the gate running if UGA gets solid QB play. With AJ Green on the other side he should be able to get plenty of looks, and that guy is good.

Reuben Randle is an obvious pick (much like Richardson).

:BigA: My pick Trent Richardson HANDS DOWN He will be the best running back we have had since Shaun Alexander and he may surpass him! Julio will probably be the best reciever Al. has ever had and Trent will compliment him nicely.:BigA:

:BigA: I think our defense will be so good it will be hard to single out a true impact player on defense! New players that make a impact on the defense will be Kirkpatrick and Johnson and others will only add to the depth!

I can assure you, Pat Patterson won't be playing for Ole Miss next season, unless there's an Ole Miss J.C. somewhere in Mississippi that I've not heard of yet.

For Bama I'd have to go with either Lacy or Richardson. Whichever one ends up as the two or even three back is going to gain some massive yardage and add incredible depth.

Bama AND SEC wise I'm going to go out on a limb and pick Kendall Kelly.

I think he's the offensive version of Dontae Hightower from this past year.
Great physical skill, few expectations, less pressure.

I see him as the 6'3 220 pound WR opposite Julio next year, and I see him destroying single coverage created by the doubles placed on Julio.

Remember....he's faster than Julio and is a great deep threat.

Plus he's strong as a bull.

If Bama can get the Offensive line in shape, Trent Richardson will light it up. Not only can he run through the line, but he can catch passes and be very hard to bring down in an open field. :biggrin2:

"Hard to bring down" is an understatement. He is an absolute beast, even with defenses loading 8 in the box all night long. 80 yards and 1 touchdown is considered "stopping" him......and 419 yards, 6 TD's is a good night.

I think it is obvious that Trent Richardson will be given an immediate shot, but I am interested to see what will happen with these incoming linebackers. Last year and the year before we had a freshman linebacker to come out strong, and this past year we probably could have used some depth there. So Tana Patrick -- he squats 555 -- and Nico Johnson both are probably mature enough to play right away, and Jerrell Harris will probably be in there. Maybe Petey Smith also. You know, when you have good linebackers all over the place for a full game, it can be a sight to behold. Offense is more iffy than defense, especially for incoming linemen. I hope that from all the outstanding O-linemen they have been pulling in, someone can step up and pave the way for Richardson, Ingram, and Upchurch. Richardson may be the next great star at Alabama, but then those linebackers can make things interesting.

The feeling I get with CNS and staff has gotten so many LBers (or guys who can play LBers, who are currently either not at Bama (Bolton) or playing another position but is expect to grow into a LBer) is that while last yr's defense was a really good defense, Saban and staff plans to be even more aggressive with their blitz packages. I maybe wrong in that belief, but I definately see a more aggressive Bama defense next yr.

I'm going with whichever freshman receiver plays the most opposite Julio Jones at Alabama or Nick Green at Georgia.

Because I have those two sophomores in the SEC's top five impact players.

And if either team gets someone to complement them, they are going to have impact beyond any other freshman.

Maybe if either UGA or BAMA plays a freshman a lot at QB, they would have impact.

I know what you mean, but Nick Green?? :conf3:

Thank you for using "complement" and not "compliment."
