I was expecting to get more commitments coming out of the weekend. I imagine there are a couple who have committed, but are waiting to officially announce on NSD. Any idea who gave their pledge to Saban? Thanks.

McKnight stated in a recent interview that although he has met with Saban he is not sure he will visit Bama after all. He was at USC last weekend, his second visit to USC

No way McKnight is a silent commit to Bama.

I'm going to say this once and you guys can listen or not. Ignore all public statements attributed to McKnight, his coaches or anyone else out of Louisiana.

McKnight and Gibson.
McKnight is quoted as saying he knows already where he is going and that the Head Coach at the place where he intends to sign his LOI is like a father to him.

I don't know what kind of relationship Coach Saban had with this young man but if it is this good then yes he may have already made a silent commitment. Since he has not visited Alabama yet, it is unlikely that CNS has swayed him away from USC at this point in time. If he does make Alabama his final visit on 2/2 then there is at least a chance that CNS is the father figure he mentions... but don't bet the house on it. :)

Gibson you can pretty much bank on as we've already had some confirmation from people "in the know" on this board. I think John Brown may be a silent commit as well, at least I hope so! :biggrin2:

If anything, McKnight is a silent commit for USC. He stated in an interview around the time Bama hired Saban that he had already made his decision, if I can find the link I will post it, but I don't think Bama is going to make up what has been two years of a full court press by both USC and LSU in a month, but stranger things have happened.

I doubt it is Corley. From a great source this weekend..."he wants to be childish and play games. He is going to wait till signing day and play the cap game!"

Recruits all over the country do the cap game. People on this board loved it with Andre Smith last year. Let them have their moment in the spotlight.

I am hoping the silent committ is John Brown. If we end up with John Brown, Kerry Murphy, Alfred McCullough, Kourtnei Brown, Alex Watkins and maybe Sidell Corley on our defensive line.....WOW.....we will be set for a while. That would be a similar class to what we pulled in on the offensive line last year. We would look good in the trenches on both sides for a long time.

After the past weekend, I think Gibson and/or Brown are likely silent commits, and I think we more than likely get Corley as well... but, whether or not he is a silent commit is anyone's guess.

Do I remember correctly that the John Curtis team stopped off and worked out at Bama's facilities on the way to the Hoover game? If so, McKnight might feel less urgency about making a visit here even if he is strongly considering the Tide?

If we get Kourtnei Brown and John Brown....WOW..talk about Book Ends again...Remember Curry and Copeland....none better than those two!!! KB and JB would be a sight for sore eyes in every other teams back field....Lay the Wood down my brothers!!

I've said this on another thread, but it is relevant here. McKnight won't "commit" to any school. I personally wish all recruits would do like him. But I understand why the 3&4 star guys "commit". They want to assure themselves a spot. People like JM have a spot anywhere they want, and like playing the recruiting game. Commitments are a joke anyway, because they are broken all the time in the recruiting process. If a 3or4* "commits" to one school, then gets an offer from a school he preferred all along, he "de-commits". (making a complete joke out of the word "commitment") We will all know where JM is going 2-7-07, no sooner. I read several boards, including this one, LSU boards, and USC boards. With JM, it's hard to tell which board I'm on because the sentiment is the same on all of them. Some people don't feel confident, and some are way too confident.
