The sad thing is, there isnt a perfect coach.............but I might have rolled the dice on Kiffin as well, but he does have lots of warts
Nothing against Rees, I'm sure he will be a fine HC one day, but he will not be Saban's replacement. There is just no way that will happen or that we would get that far down the list.
Norfolk Southern is rampant around Tuscaloosa to be sure.
Didn't Saban say there would be an answer for the players in 72 hours? Why are so many freaking out? Anyone with an IQ over 40 knows Rees isn't a legitimate candidate. Whoever is putting that out is trying to help his resume.
Byrne has made one good hire as ad and a few not so good ones. Rees would be an absolutely shockingly bad hire imo. I just can’t see that happening

In my totally uneducated guess I think Rees's name is being floated to make him more attractive somewhere else. Saban probably feels bad for bringing him in and this all going down one year later. I doubt any of the names being floated would keep him on unless it is a defensive type of guy.
And the crazy thing about Kiffin is he actually could already have the job and still be trolling like this. It would be painfully hilarious if the trolling turned out to be Kiffin fake trolling because he knew the hire was him. Lol
Bingo! If it gets to 72 hours with no coach, then I might consider having a little doubt, but let's get to the supposed deadline before we start freaking out. And there is no "we were caught off guard and didn't have a plan". Saban probably did just decide yesterday, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a plan. If Greg Byrne didn't have a plan for this, then he's not very good at his job, because that is a big part of THE JOB. Any AD worth anything is going to have a clear plan in place just in case something like this does happen. There is no universe where Greg Byrne was just completely caught unawares and has no clue what to do next. He has a plan in place, and he has been generally very successful when making coaching hires. We are going to be fine. Could the hire not work out? Absolutely. Anything can happen. Hiring coaches is not an exact science. But what we do know for certain is that we are about as well equipped as any program in the country to handle this sort of thing.
