Who is Saban's replacement?

Kalen Deboer seems to be the new popular name. Represented by Sexton and there seems to be some mutual respect.
The problem is he's the worst recruiter on the list. He might be a great coach, but how much of his success was Penix? I watched a lot of their games this year, I wasn't that impressed (mind you Clemson wasn't that impressive either, just making a point).

26th ranked recruiting class in 2023. 26th in 2024. No ties to the southeast.

May be he's a better coach than Dabo, but if we're worried about recruiting and all of that, he's at the bottom of the "list" I've seen floated around. At least Norvell has ties to the region.

I'd be happy with that. He would've been my first "gotta at least try" call. If it's him, I think we are in good shape. My only question would be his ability to keep the roster together as a complete outsider.

So if there's no Lanning, and we won't suck it up and hire Kiffin, then what in the world do we do?
Well, WE have no idea what's been happening - all we have is reports from people who want you to click on their article / tweet.

It could be that we end up with someone out of left field, or there may be something in the works that's been in motion for days, weeks, even months.

We fans need to take a breath and stop worrying about it.

I hope and pray you are wrong. As detail oriented as CNS is it's almost impossible to think there isn't a plan in place.

No inside info and just my opinion, but it looks like the Lanning option may have been on the table...ink wasn't dry on any contract, he used it all just to get more money from Knight/Oregon, and we're left holding the bag. It surely wouldn't be the first time we got screwed over in negotiations and it was all a smoke screen for them to get more money from where they were.

If the "rumors" of this being the plan and former players like Maze, Jones, etc. believing Lanning was the guy, then there wasn't any kind of plan in place at all, or he burned/used us.

Didn't CNS interview his OC Grubb prior to hiring Reese? If so, Saban may have some inside information on Deboer and his system, maybe?

He is also Mike Norvells agent according to Google.
He’s my agent, and I don’t even have an agent.

He represents most anyone who’s anyone it seems.

On a side note, Trace Armstrong has done well in the agent business, if this is the same Trace Armstrong who played football.

So with the alleged reports of Lanning being in T-town, but sources saying he wasn't, how do we reconcile the flight tracker? Didn't flight tracker show otherwise or at least there was a flight between T-town and Eugene? I would think in this day and age (esp given the public awareness of "flight tracker" during coaching searches), that UA would either use a different "private" plane vs. the University plane.
According to what I read yesterday UA has requested FAA to temporarily remove their jet from public tracking.
As far as the flight from Eugene to Tuscaloosa- I never saw anything other than a screen shot of a flight tracker, no link, which means that could have been a fake. The only one I saw that looked legit was Monday, which means he MIGHT have been on it and MIGHT have interviewed prior to Wednesday.
Remember, coach said 72 hours. Give it 72 hours.

This is the key part. I think everyone hopped on the "There was a plan and Lanning is the guy" concept, and when that appears to have not happened, there's panic.

For all we know, the University may have known that Lanning was using the Tuscaloosa trip to barter for a raise at Oregon.

It's way too soon to even stress about it.
with the way things are now, you cannot drag your feet on this.

Clemson fell off the edge but honestly the reason was DJ U turned into a pumpkin. If he is the quarterback many thought he was gonna be coming out of high school they have a completey different script written imo. Clemson also doesn’t have the talent around the area like we do and no where near the financial backing we have. Dabo is still recruiting pretty well with these issues the question becomes does the extra financial backing he could get here sway him to dip into transfer portal. The transfer portal doesn’t have to be used as much as some people think if you can bring guys in and then keep there there. Michigan hasn’t used the portal much and they have been to 3 straight playoffs and won a National Championship.

I would laugh if Mike Norvell is hired as the HC. If things couldn’t get worse between us and FSU than they already are
Other than Dabo who has had only one stop, he's certainly got the best track record in terms of program building.

69-32 isn't that impressive, but showed improvement at each stop. The issue with Sark and Kiffin is both had stops where they didn't show real improvement.

Kiffin is just weird, he has a good season, then a mediocre one, then a good one again. I don't think people realize how up and down he is. Did it at Ole Miss too, 10 wins, 8 wins, 11 wins. It's the lack of consistency.

Norvell hasn't been anywhere long enough to show a pattern though, heh.

Sexton is Saban's agent. Sexton burns bridges with university and Saban if he embarrasses the university through this process. There is a plan in place even if Byrne may have been surprised yesterday. You bet Sexton and Saban have a plan. But that plan may include candidates getting raises through the opportunity.
