saw this posted over on an LSU board that I occasionally view....thought I would pose the question here.

As for me, My wonderful wife is originally from Kentucky and is a hugh Louisville fan....she supports my Crimson Tide Ten Fold and beats it into my kid's heads!! So for me, I would have to go with UL......it also gives me a chance to pull for a pretty good team during Basketball season!! (I know we are up and coming but the last few years have been hard to watch minus this past season)

What say you?:BigA:

Normally it is Oklahoma and Penn State. Occasionally I will add another team to my favorite lists because they hire a HC I really like, or something like that. Right now it is Oklahoma and Penn State.

I like Penn State and I don't really have a problem with LSU ,MSU, or Tenn since they hired CDD. Not opposed to GA either. I GENERALLY pull for the SEC except for *U never, never, never for *U. I always have a hard time pulling for *U to win if it helps us. I use to pull for a tie when the tie system was still in place.

I pull for the vols, when we are not playing them... After phil fudd stabbed us in the back I vowed never to pull for tenn again as long as he was there...Well he's gone, so I can return to form...

I'll even tell you people why.

In 1996, or 1997 we got 6 to 8 inches of snow here in north alabama. Well my father was battling brain cancer( a fight he lost in 98), and we lived on the alabama Tenn state line.. Well the day after the snow storm my father had a scheduled chemo treatment, and not being in his right state of mind decided he could make it ..Our venture up the high way was treacherous, and he eventually slid us off into a major ditch..
We had no phone, little money, and it was just me and my sick father in the middle of nowhere..

Well I watched numerous cars go by , for over an hour, just me standing there in my crimson attire, waiving aimlessly for help...Then straight from heaven this truck with 4 teenage boys stopped, all wearing Tennessee attire, and us 5 pushed the car back on to the highway. I offered to pay them what I had,, but they refused, But 1 guy turned and said " just pull for them vols when they are not playing the tide, and that will be payment enough..I promised him I would, and did, until the fat phil debacle..

Those kids had nothing to gain, asked nothing for return, and was there for me and mine(despite my crimson sweat suit), during our darkest hour, that is why I yell go vols when applicable. But always first, and foremost RTR

2nd favorite team in the SEC is LSU. I have been an LSU fan since the days of Billy Cannon, Warren Rabb, Johnny Robinson etc and later Jerry Stovall. Outside the SEC it would probably be Penn State and Nebraska, two programs historically that compare favorably with Alabama. I know Les Miles is kind of weird but I like him and if we can't win the SEC then I hope it is the Bayou Bengals.

My Dad's from Tuscaloosa, so I never had a chance to be anything but a Tide fan (not that I'm complaining :) ) But I was born in MS, so I've got to have at least a little pride for a home state school. I could never pull for Ole Miss, they think they are Alabama. MSU is different. At least they know their place in the world. They're ecstatic about 8 win seasons & their a perennial underdog who's rarely a threat to us in any sport. Also, my mom is an MSU alum. Always feel bad for their fans, but they are some of the most loyal I know.

It used to be Florida State. Then they cried about they deserved a second chance. Cried on TV like a bunch of entitled babies. I abandoned them after that.

I liked Colorado until McCartney pulled his comments out of his backside about the Fifth Down game.

I kinda like Georgia Tech since my grandfather was offered a scholarship there in the 1920s but never finished high school. Just think: he could have been on the field for the Roy Riegels play.

I used to like (here come the brick bats) Auburn until every time they got in trouble they blamed us for their cheating.

Penn State was ok, but i hate the Big Ten. Come to think of it, I have a lot of hate and very little forgiveness in this post :)

I like the traditional powers like Oklahoma, Nebraska, Penn State. I used to like USC when Pete Carroll first got there. I admired the talent and system he had put in place. Of course, that was all a house of cards, apparently.

In the SEC, I like LSU. Yeah, they went off the reservation with the whole jilted lover syndrome after we hired Coach Saban, but other than that I respect the amount of talent that they've built up even after Saban left. Miles has done a good job there and although he is wacko at times, he's earned my respect.

After I retired from the Army, I settled in WA state for 14 years before I got wise enough to come home!! But, in those years, my wife and I spent our summer vacations in Wyoming and Montana. So, I come to love those areas, the high country, the big peaks, etc. Thus, I root for the Griz and Cowboys all the time.

I always seem to enjoy following Arkansas.

I like the new coaches at MS and TN.

Hard to say. But the tradition that Florida St. established throughout the 90s and the megastar teams Miami put together from the late 90s to the mid 00s was admirable to say the least.

Nobody really, especially within the SEC. I really don't like any of them. There are some that I can tolerate more than others (Ole Miss, UF) and some I cannot tolerate at any time (UT, MSU). I always have liked Spurrier, especially in the past when he was prone to say anything. That type of honesty and emotion is refreshing. The Urban Meyers, Gene Chiziks, and Bobby Petrinos of the world don't allow for any fun or off the cuff discussion. I understand the need to be "down to business" but that doesn't mean that I have to enjoy it.

Outside of the SEC my favorite is probably OU. I do often find myself pulling for Iowa in the Big 10. Don't know if they still have it, but I always liked the story of their pink visitor's dressing room.

Florida probably, since that means a happy Mrs. Tide in Oxford. ;)

Outside the SEC, probably a team like Oklahoma. Among other things, I can't argue with their choice of colors. (Ok, they get the cream part wrong, but it's close enough to white).:biggrin2:
