Arkansas isn't going to be a slouch. Petrino has that program on the rise and they're recruiting well. Greg Childs will be back from injury and they can run the ball now, too. They will beat MSU, Aubun and Ole Miss.

I think the Bama D will be the edge needed to win the west...I'm excited already about the possibilities...Yep, it's going to be another great year for the Bama nation.

1. Bama= really good defense, solid running game gets us back
2. Miss St= Will beat some they shouldn't and hopefully lose one they should
3. LSWho= talent rich, but I just don't see the Mad Hatter continue with the breaks forever.
4. Arkansas= will beat somone they shouldn't
5. BArn= have underestimated them the past two years actually. Tired of the Bama sites devouting soooo much time to these booger eaters.
6. Ole Siss= need I say more.

Defense wins championships! We should have the best. Our offense should not be a liability, but will be a work in progress. I'm glad we play LSU at home this year

Glad auburn goes back to mediocrity...forgettable

Auburn wins the SEC West.*

*I am referring to Auburn winning the SEC West's prize for sinking the most in the standings. :D

The standings for actual record will be

Bama
LSU
MSU
Arkansas
Auburn
Ole Miss

Although since this is a year where Houston Nutt has no expectations, he probably will end up in the Cotton Bowl again. But talentwise I just can't see it.

Defense wins championships!
For what it's worth, according to the stats on the ncaa website, Bama finished #1 in the SEC in "total defense" (good enough for #5 in the nation), whereas Auburn finished #9 in the SEC and #60 in the nation:

Conference Statistics

That seems to disprove the statement "Defense wins championships"...

It is also the first time in BCS history that a team has been lower than 23. Go back and look and you will see the champs were usually in the top 5 in total defense. Given the choice I'll take a top defense into the championship round just based on history.

Yes, there are exceptions to every rule, but the fact that they are a departure from normally occurs is what makes them exceptions.

Alabama and LSU will clearly be the best teams in the SEC next year. Arkansas will be right behind them. It's good Bama gets both of them in Tuscaloosa. Alabama will have the best team yet, in terms of pure talent and experience, since Saban has been here. The offense returns seven starters but has talented players that will step up for the guys who are gone. The main focus will be at quarterback, #1 receiver and left tackle. There are plenty of talented options at receiver, McCarron will be fine in my opinion and Aaron Douglas will be a good left tackle while Cyrus Kouandjio redshirts. Running back will be loaded even without Ingram. The defense should the most talented yet under Saban.

People are saying that our weakness will be QB and receiver. I don't see this at all. We only lose one receiver although that one is Julio. You have to admit which ever QB starts next year will have more talent(not experience) than Greg had. I think with a potential first round QB and all those talented receivers not to mention our defense should be competing for best of all time we will not lose a game.
Agreed. Whoever the new QB is next year, he will have more talent around him than what Greg had in 2009. We only had four starters on offense return in 2009 and won it all. The defense had to carry us in a lot of the games. This year, we return seven starters on offense and have more talent ready to step up. Most of the current starters are players that Saban recruited. The defense also returns ten starters and will have tons of quality depth. I think we go into 2011 with a more optimistic view than we did going into the 2009 opener against Virginia Tech.

BAMA
LSU
ARK

These are the only three I see as a chance in the West. MSU will be very good but I think the above three will have decent to expected shots at the BCSNCG. That being said, the Ark/Bama game will be huge. Granted they won't have mallett but I also think that helps them in some ways. They'll be more balanced, and better on D. I think arky will have a definitive say in the west next year and fortunately that game is in Ttown and early on the schedule. Granted their qb for next year took over at the Ark/Aub game and did well, but hopefully the big road game gets to him early. LSU...well they'll have talent and if the Mettenberg that beat out A. Murray at UGA shows up and they jell on offense w/ a new QB and new OC..then that could be very dangerous. I wonder about their secondary.
