My answer is I don't know. I have wanted to give up football for a long time, but Alabama football keeps me hooked. I'm compelled to watch and enjoy it. I wish that I could shake the addiction, but I can't. So instead I revel in it.

I was born in Druid City Hospital. I have alway been a Bama fan. To me it is like being male, bald, white, blue eyes, great in bed:wink: I mean it isn't a choice to me. It is me. I'm not one of these crazy die hard fans that goes into depression for a week after we lose. However, I will always support and feel a connection to the university and it isn't something I choose or think about. Alabama is a part of me and I will support it in any way I can.
BTW UPS dude hit my door right when I was in the shower. I go screaming down the stairs in last night's bar clothes to get my package. It turns out to be "The Crimson Tide" by Winston Groom. I'm giddy.

I was three years old when Coach Bryant came back to lead Alabama to glory once again. He brought a sense of pride to the south like no one else could. I grew up admiring him as a father figure. I loved his wisdom, his philosophy, his confidence, his leadership. Every time I read something about him, I learned something from him. I became an Alabama Crimson Tide fan because of him. The only time we came close to returning to that kind of respect was when Coach Stallings came here. He had that same toughness and instilled it in his players the same way Coach Bryant did. I still hate the fact that our BOT allowed Bockrath to run him off. Coach Stallings deserved our support and we let him down. I hope they don't make the same mistake with Coach Saban. Finally once again, we have a coach that will turn these young men into winners on and off the field of battle. At Alabama, it's more than a game...

Part of my love affair with Alabama was in part to listening to Eli Gold on the radio. I mean, there are very few people I will listen to on the radio or tv (Harry Caray, Vin Scully) but Eli Gold is one.

Another was "The Deuce" David Palmer, man wasn't he exciting.

Watching an Alabama game at Bryant Denny during the early afternoon hours, is like poetry in motion.

Those are the major reasons.

I have so many reasons, that I can't mention, but those are the majors.
