Taking a three, five, or seven step drop takes a toll on the QB when he has to do it 40 times. Being a former QB myself, I understand that being under center helps set up the play action better and leaves the defense guessing. However, it was very noticeable that as the game went along, JPW got a little tired and his footwork wasn't quite as good late in the game compared to early in the game. Also, he was in the shotgun almost every play at Hoover. Also it is much easier to locate the open receiver faster form the shotgun.
Does anyone have any other ideas of why the shotgun was taken out against FL? I beleive that JPW could be a lot more mobile out of the shotgun. Or snap it to JJ occasionally. JPW can be a great QB if he is put in the position to be. RTR!!:BigA:
