Word out of Aubarn is that Freeze is miserable

What incentive would there be for Freeze to negotiate? The contract is quite clear on what he would get if terminated. Isn't Sexton his agent?

The ONLY way the barn can reduce his buyout is to either come up with "just cause" or wait for it to reduce over time...
Weird things happen behind closed doors, in negotiations and in life. As mentioned earlier, Aubarn has an MO of digging up or creating non-sensical things that can be and will be used against people they are trying to get out of town. I could see a meeting going similar to this..."Coach, we need to discuss some things that have come to our attention. We really don't want this to get leaked out for the sake of your future, your family, and our program. If you will take $_____ we will guarantee you that this will not leave this room. We can shake hands and call this a mutual agreement. How does that sound to you?"

I'll go on record now and say with the addition of Clifford down low for Alabama, we are much stronger on the boards and defensively than we have been since Oats has been in town. Aubarn used those two weaknesses to their advantage over the last few years. Clifford will neutralize Broome and that will be a problem for them. Bama sweeps them this year and does so in going away fashion. Pearl will get a taste of Freeze's medicine.
Nate Oats said:
There's a reason we play these exhibitions: so we can get exposed a little bit on what we have to work on. We were definitely exposed tonight a little bit. Our turnovers were not where we needed to be, and we have to do a better job of taking care of the ball. Our defensive rebounding and our transition defense were exposed in a bad way. They got all over the offensive boards and had 36 fastbreak points. It's not good, so we have a lot of work to do before the regular season starts.
Oats seemed disappointed with this aspect of the exhibition game against Memphis

Freeze at the Barn is just not a good marriage. Not good for the Barn. Not good for Freeze. Not good for his former employer. He was not going to make as much money if he had stayed at Liberty, but their expectations for on-field success were lower (and the opponents were not as ferocious)..

If the football team is only guaranteed a fraction of actual real-life games that the basketball team is guaranteed and we are having issues, you can only imagine what problems an EXHIBITION game would cause. I like that he isn't letting them off the hook but I think we will see a much different team in those areas come tonight.

Yep! That's what I said... ;)

In another post I commented that they were no doubt looking and documenting since the day he was hired, just in case they needed to jettison him.

Drew DeArmond said this morning he thought Freeze would get another year. They do have a good recruiting class on deck. There was a call-in who asked whether the class would fall apart now, with the W/L being so bad. Drew said he did not think so.

No disrespect, but he is a PERFECT fit down there. Just ask the AD (his words, not ours)...

In this day and age I don't think anyone can make that statement with any sort of confidence. Kids are fickled and a new shiny toy comes along each and everyday for them to get interested in.

Yeah, I get it. I hope he stays to lead the barn through the worst couple of decades in Aubarn football.
C'mon now...you know those boosters won't let that happen. They are more trigger happy than a 12 year old boy during his first trip in a duck blind. I'm starting to think they enjoy showing each other how much money they can shove in the offering plate atp. To say I've never seen anything like it isn't an over reaction...

If on-the-field success continues to escape Freeze, I hope he stays and is given two full decades to get his players and coaches into position. Then, after going 0-20 against Alabama, then we can let him go.

Truly amazing how bad they have been. I could see Freeze's argument that they are still building their roster if they had at least slightly improved this year. But they've actually gotten worse

I thought this would be another "rebuilding" year for AU - maybe finish 8-4. Then be a contender next year. I obviously believed the hype around Freeze. He truly does look unhappy with his current situation.

Let Cam Coleman, Perry Thompson, Walker White, or any of the top prospects they signed start to sour on the program and you will see kids jumping off the USS Barn Titanic quicker than you can say toilet paper.
