Game Thread: World Cup / USMNT Chat Thread

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Well, we looked a little better against New Zealand. Seemed to have more energy. Kept us from being bumped out immediately, but a long way to go.

Made it through to the quarter finals. First time since 2000. After the France match, I didn't think we would make it. Competition gets tougher, but congrats for making it this far. Let's medal!

Wasn't exactly a group of death - and in "tribute" to the re-departed Berfalter, no man, no p!zz poor plan, no Panama...

Meh game. Had it on in the background. I'm not sure we had a shot on goal. I am always mystified how a country with 350 million people can't find 11 people to take out Morocco or some such country.

Yep. At some point, you'd think the law of averages would have to swing in our favor, but it probably won't until MLS starts paying like the NFL, NBA, and MLB.

Glad to see the USMNT has finally hired a top level coach. I think Chelsea were daft to get rid of Poch just when he had the team starting to play well. Todd Bohly doesn't have a clue what it takes to coach a Premier League team and Poch was doing a fantastic job with the inflated squad he was expected to train every day.

Chelsea's loss is certainly the USMNT's gain. So long as the powers that be of the US Men's Team keep their noses out of Poch's job, he'll do very well and by 2026 he'll have a competitive team for the World Cup.

He left by mutual consent. My take is he didn't like how much they were meddling at the squad level.

I'd say they were daft to let him leave. Had he stayed they're contending for a spot in European football.

And then, they replace him with Maresca, who barely secures automatic promotion from the Championship with a Leicester squad that was historically good for the first half of the season.

Chelsea may be looking for another coach by the January window.
