Game Thread: World Cup / USMNT Chat Thread

I think Poch would be a great candidate for the USMNT. His strategies are not too involved like Pep's so should be easily learned in two week segments during international duty. He is very good with young players. Ideally, you keep the coach whomever he may be, around long enough that the same system is taught at the senior level as well as the U-20's and younger. In this way, it is a much easier transition from one age level to the next.

Things are soaring for Cavan Sullivan. He set the record for youngest professional US athlete across any major sport in his recent debut at 14. Then he was the MVP of the MLS Next all star game. He is still scheduled to transfer to Man City when he is 18.

USWNT plays Zambia in the first match of the Olympics this afternoon.
The US Woman's Soccer team carried the banner for the US in that sport for so many years but, frankly, not too high on it anymore thanks to the political messaging allowed to the players. I am all about free speech but put the jersey on and be an American for crying out loud. Don't really care what you think just perform on the pitch and do it in a classy way.

They did their jobs better than any other team in the world for almost 2 decades. That is all that should matter. Just watch the games and pull for America!

USA!

Funny how we have dominated the sport on the women's side but struggle just to get into the tournament on the men's side. Do we have a coach yet?

It will be interesting to see what condition he's in when he turns 18.

I lived in DC and followed DC United when Freddy Adu arrived. It ended up being much "adu" about nothing. :cautious:
