As expected, Clowney picks USCe

I actually am liking this. Going for the Kentucky game, by himself and returning home after the game. To bad he can not just go and enjoy the game and that would be the best tactic for USC right now, but they will have 4 on each arm and 4 in each ear the whole time, not to mention fans harrassing him. It also says he might not take anymore visits and is torn between UA and USC.

Clowney will visit USC Saturday
He could make us his mind, the source said, in the not too distant future, but he doesn't plan to announce a decision until his birthday which is Valentine's Day.
Did Bama impress him that much or is USCe just his favorite? With him making a trip to Columbia, I think Bama might have made the impression UA folks were hoping for.

The carolina folks are really confident this is 'the' sign, but I think he could just be making one last visit after his Bama visit before making a decision. jadeveon should choose Bama just to play next to Williams. Imagine , after getting into the S&C program, an OC trying to gameplan against a 6'6", 280lb man that runs a 4.6 forty, and a 6'4" 340 pound man that runs a 4.9 forty and bench presses a small car.

Jadeveon, meet your soon to be best friend on the Dline

I don't see us getting an UOV b/c of the drive but clearly him going to USCe means that the gamecocks are afraid of the impact that Bama made on him. I think that's only natural b/c if we had a huge recruit that was leaning towards us but he had a OV to UF, we would want him to UOV us as soon as possible to forget what he saw. I'm glad to hear he's going to a basketball game for the UOV b/c that will take up quite a bit of time on his UOV. Anyone hear anything about Rumph visit specifically? I just heard most about USCe's coach visit

And that may be why he is going without mom and coach! ;)

It is safe to say that we all hope that USCe gets crushed by Kentucky in this basketball game? But if we could get him in for one more UOV, I think he is ours to lose IMO.

So, they get to do all the stuff that the "OV" guys do like visit the locker rooms, field, have a player assigned to them, etc.? They just foot the bill this time?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I just haven't experienced it myself! Ha!

On an unofficial, the recruit can do anything as long as he's not recieving a benefit. Therefore, he can probably do the locker room thing, but I doubt he does. He may have an unofficial 'host', but on an official visit, the host will get a stipend (I think its like $150 or something like that... at least it was when I was in school). That stipend is to show the recruit a good time by paying for "ice cream and fruit punch". The stipend is also for the host so he's not paying for things out of his own pocket for himself. The unofficial visitor can go to dinner w/ everyone, but has to pay for their own meal. Also the unofficial visitor can't stay in the dorms and usually stays in a nearby hotel if its overnight... which it rarely is. However, in the lesser sports (not football/basketball), the unofficial visitor will just crash on the couch at the dorms and no one cares. Last, they can do all of the tours and what not... just like any other normal academic prospect could do should he/she want to come to Bama.

It's not uncommon for the visiting recruits to come to the game late and/or leave early. If they have other things they consider important, they won't stay for the whole game. This is pretty much commonplace everywhere, not unique to USC. One purpose of the b-ball game is to get the kids in front of fans and students and let them see a D1 atmosphere (not allowed to fake a football atmosphere, so next-best thing is to take them to a b-ball game, which is legal). I'm sure the students will serenade him with "Clowney" chants. If I remember correctly on Latimore's visit they came late and left early, and got a roaring ovation upon exit.

I haven't been to a Bama b-ball game in a long time, but I would think the Tide does something similar when recruits visit. It's a no-brainer as it's a legal way to put the kids in front of the fans and students... the game itself is really secondary.

That's reaching...

Smart betting is that he's going to USC because of his relationship with the school/program, not because of some deliberative crisis.

As I said a few pages back, getting Clowney back on campus was an absolute must no matter what. If he came back from Bama with a 70-30 lead towards the tide, a 50-50 split, or a 70-30 lead towards the cocks, it does not matter, what is most important is getting him back on campus after his OV with our biggest competition.

Interesting...big weekend full of current and hopefully soon to be recruits and the coaches are arm and arm with JC at the BBall game. I guess UA did give him something to think about. They must be worried, but if it helps go for it. Do what you have to in the recruiting game.

If we can get him in for an UOV to Tuscaloosa one more time before he decides, then I think he is ours to lose. IMO.

Tweet from Travis Haney at the UK vs. USCe game -

"Now the entire arena erupts into the "We Want Clowney!" cheer again. Sshhh. You're interrupting the drunk-driving PSA."

Ya this isnt very good. They did this with Latimore last year and look how that turned out...I am a bit worried now.

You had to figure that they would cheer for him. They did it for ML so of course they would for JC. I think the competition for ML isn't as close as JC though

It's a little different. Last year you could tell by the actions and words of the USC coaches that they were quietly optimistic about Lattimore signing. This year you get the impression they are at least a little more worried. Clowney's a USC lean, but this is by no means a done deal... I believe the kid is legitamately torn on where to go. Remeber, he is still a 17-year old HS kid.

Ya I guess you are right...but as I keep saying, we need to get him in somehow on and Unofficial...
