This is a new twist.....sending kids that are qualified to prep school. To clear up (sort of) USC's numbers, here's a brief explanation:
Two commits are not expected to get LOIs tomorrow. They will likely be placed at a prep school. Supposedly these kids were told that this was a possibility from day one (as early as last summer). USC coaches have been up front with them on this all along. Supposedly both kids in question grew up Gamecock fans and are holding out in case someone (i.e. Clowney) doesn't sign.
That leaves USC with 31 commitments still on the list. Four of those can count back to last year's class, so USC is at 27 , leaving one spot open for Clowney (SEC rule limits LOIs to 28).
That would be a very new development. I doubt it.Somebody on the AJC board says ESPN is saying JC announces tomorrow at 4 p.m. Can anybody confirm?
Luginbill said today he would be in study with them around 3, so I guess that means 4 their time. I think people have just confused this to mean that he will be commiting. I believe he has a trip to LSU planned btween now and his bday.Somebody on the AJC board says ESPN is saying JC announces tomorrow at 4 p.m. Can anybody confirm?
There are conflicting reports on this from local sources. At least one person close to JC said he would be visiting LSU, but others indicated that they didn't think he would due to a HS b-ball game and his HS football banquet. So the correct answer is the LSU visit is 100% a "maybe".Luginbill said today he would be in study with them around 3, so I guess that means 4 their time. Also some disturbing online and talk radio rumors (I'm hoping that's all they are) that clemson has made some serious inroads with JC and they are now a legit contender.
EDIT: From Goupstate.com (PK) - Clowney is not announcing Wednesday, he still plans on announcing on his birthday... and according to his HS coach, Clowney has done little with his recruiting this week and he does not have a visit set at this point for LSU, or anywhere else, this weekend.
Clowney is NOT announcing Wednesday
No discussion of clemson in the article/blog.
You don't understand, USC's tradition isn't 8-5, its 6-5/5-6. 8-5 is a significant improvement over USC's very mediocre history. Even in recent history (SEC) the record is not good. Before Spurrier arrived, USC had produced only 5 winning seasons in 13 years of SEC play. Spurrier has has produced 5 winning seasons in less than half that time and has yet to have a losing season at USC. For a Bama fan not intimately familiar with USC history this may sound like a joke (and compared to Bama football history USC's is arguably a bit of a joke), but success is relative, and relative to where USC used to be, 8-5/9-5 is pretty darn good and definitely a step in the right direction.Wonder how long itll be before spurrier retires and south carolina continues their fine tradition to get their next washed up coach and finishing 8-5?
yes USC's legacy is in 5 losses, no matter how many wins earned. they played two extra games this year to get to those 5 losses, its a treasured piece of the schools legacy. You don't understand, USC's tradition isn't 8-5, its 6-5/5-6. 8-5 is a significant improvement over USC's very mediocre history. I get what you're saying about 8-5/9-5 being a big step for USCe. My question to you and any other USCe fan is can the Gamecocks have that record when Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia aren't down like they were this year. If they can, I see USCe in good shape. You don't understand, USC's tradition isn't 8-5, its 6-5/5-6. 8-5 is a significant improvement over USC's very mediocre history. Their tradition is hiring washed up coaches who had success at other schools and then getting mediocre results from them.yes USC's legacy is in 5 losses, no matter how many wins earned. they played two extra games this year to get to those 5 losses, its a treasured piece of the schools legacy.
