Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

I feel kind of sorry for this kid. He's too impulsive for his own good LOL. He's had years to make this decision and he chooses a school he's only been considering a couple of weeks? I think right now there is just too much pressure on him. I think all along a part of him has felt obligated to come to Alabama, and when he visited Auburn, that relieved the stress, because they don't take anything seriously and focus their recruiting visits on showing the recruit a good time. Cyrus probably went there, had a good time, took his mind off football, and felt relieved like he fit in there. And I bet there were a bunch of people telling him he doesn't have to come to Alabama, which is what he's been wanting to hear. I think that Saban's business philosophy may turn him off a bit. He strikes me as a joker, someone who just wants to have fun; I really don't think he cares about national championships and such. Auburn might just be the best place for him.

Having I said that I hope momma wins canigettarolltide

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

What does this indecision do with the number we will sign today? Do we keep a spot open for Cyrus, or sign one extra if he decides on Bama?

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

IF this is true then we've got the classic parents wanting him to do one thing and him wanting to do another. This ought to be interesting....

Okay... let's switch this up.
Cyrus isn't a football player. He goes to a job fair at high school to get an after school job. His parents know the manager of the local Chick-fil-a, and they know all of the staff. His older brother already works there. They want him to work there because they know that he'll be in good company and has the opportunity to get into management with the company.
But, while he was at the job fair, some slick guy with his hat on backwards with a "sports marketing firm" starts bending his ear. He talks about all the money he can make and how all of his top reps have i-Phones and Androids and they're all making $500 a week after school. It all sounds great and Cyrus is hooked. He doesn't tell his parents about this other job until the last minute.
As a parent, I would sure want to know something about this other job and who is running the company before I'd allow my child to sign anything.

This situation would be different if Cyrus had always been back and forth between Alabama and Auburn. Then, I don't think it would be such an issue. However, the fact that he takes one, last minute trip to Auburn - without his parents - and all of a sudden he commits smacks of a kid who thinks he knows what he wants, but hasn't really weighed all of the issues.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

:BigA: Why would the kid not want his mom and dad at the same game watching him and his brother playing for the same team! Do you really want to be your brothers friend or foe? Bama and the Bama fans want you to be in crimson!RTR

Some little brothers do not want to be in the shadow of their big brothers. They want to blaze their own path. In this case, I think you have two young men that are very bright and self assured in themselves and the idea of posiibly playing together might be more an opportunity to put a unique story on the big stage than blazing one's own path.
I just feel really bad for this family because I am sure the parents are looking at their son who as already publically admitted to "making the wrong choice" and "having doubts" and are worried about not only today but the rest of his life.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

My question is will magnanga_boy post a "Roll Tide"on FB or twitter, if Cyrus switches his commitment?

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

What's REALLY, REALLY going to be fun is if he ultimately sticks with Auburn! Can you imagine the next three to four years of his family's life? I wouldn't envy that for one second.
Put Arie at DE in the Iron Bowl unannounced...
Seriously, as cool as it would be as a parent to have two sons starting OL in the SEC (obviously, not the case yet), to have them at different schools so that I could not attend each game of my children would be tough.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I wonder if the AU staff, or the players, ended up taking Cyrus and those other recruits to that Hollywood Starlet's party this past weekend when they were on their recruiting visit? You know, she and her group just happened to arrive in Auburn for that big recruiting weekend. She was also involved in those agent parties this past summer in South Beach that were talked about so much prior to the season. I find it ironic that she happens to show up in Auburn, AL of all places on what just happens to be the biggest recruiting weekend for AU football.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Why the barn? Does he want an Ag degree???? Makes no sense at all.......

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

I'd like to say I want Cyrus to make his own decision but do you really think he's going to regret coming to Alabama when he's crying and holding his brother's face saying "We did it! We're the champions!" after having dismantled some poor Big 12 or Big 10 defensive end and watching his brother do the same while standing in a rain of confetti as the announcers prepare to award Dee Hart MVP of the BCSNCG which was only possible because Cyrus and Arie blocked so damn good which was only possibly because Cyrus let his parents decide what was best for him? I don't think so. I think he'll be thanking them.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I would love to know what they tell these kids when they get them down there. CK seems like a good level headed kid and after 1, yes 1 visit without his parents he committs to the barn. They wasn't even in his top 5 2 weeks ago, supposedly he said Saban was a lot like his dad, family loves bama, brother who he is close to is at Bama. Callaway had that deer in the headlights look at the AA game when committed to the barn. CK almost had that same look today. I saw several players commit and I don't recall any other kids having that look.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

well we have nothing to lose at this point, so the pressure's off. if we flip him great if not we've already been through the meltdown of losing him.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

He said after his Allbarn visit that he was going to sit down with his parents and discuss everything. So I'm assuming that though his parents didn't go they did sit down and talk. So did they talk or didn't they? Let's assume they talked. They discussed it and both his parents advised him that his best decision was Alabama. But he wanted to go to Auburn. What do you do at that point? Force him to go to Alabama?

I tell you what I'd do. Assuming we discussed it and I gave him my advice, my .02, my opinion of it. I'd let him make the decision. Ultimately we have absolutely no clue at this stage of the game if choosing Auburn is a "bad" decision for him personally. Heck, for all we know the kid might get over there, be a first year "Andre Smith" starter, win a national championship and never look back. Where as come to Alabama, get stuck on the depth chart (like many of them have) and never touch the field. We simply do not know. But assuming him and his parents have discussed his trip to Auburn (and everywhere else), and his parents have had the opportunity to give him their opinion then to me you let him choose where he wants. We can't always protect people from potential bad decisions. Especially those decisions that have so many unknown variables. But to me th best thing for him is to go through the decision making process with his parents, but ultimately let him make the decision on where to go.
