Perhaps I was a little harsh. My apologies. However, I don't believe Steen is the man for the job at RG. We know BJ is much more comfortable there and we've seen what Cyrus can do. If they're so adamant about keeping BJ at LT, why not put Arie K in there at RG?

Also one other thing I noticed was the staggering number of red shirts in the stands. Even Nessler and Blackledge said we supposedly only got 5000 tickets and how there were way more red shirts than that. Their so-called "white-out" didn't work out too well. Props to our fans for the support.

Without a doubt, CNS has final say. He's said so himself. However, it's my opinion that we're going to see fairly vanilla play-calling all the way through next week's game. If Saban is going to change his philosophy of going conservative with a lead and letting the defense win it (I don't think he will), we won't know until the Arkansas game at the earliest. Our defense just hasn't been challenged enough yet to feel the need for the offense to take chances with a big lead.
There's no reason to 'Tip our Hand' about future formations or gadget plays... I'd rather just see them as a surprise for our opponent.

People, maybe the best team in the Big Ten spent an entire year exercising and scheming to beat us. They pulled out all the stops and the fans were nuts. We still basically named the score, i.e. we closed the playbook in the 4th quarter and ran out the clock. I'm not overlooking LSU or any sleeper team on the schedule, but I'm elated.

PS- we'd beat AU 1000 times out of 1000 right now.
All due respect to Penn State but they're nowhere near the "best" team in the Big10. The run blocking on the OL still seems to be an issue, but as long as A.J. continues to progress and our receivers step up I think that will take the pressure off of that. Other than that not too much to be unhappy with right now.

I agree playcalling has been vanilla on purpose, BUT if you simply can't block a man one-on-one, it doesn't matter too much what the playcall is.

There's not too many plays you can run with a defensive guy in the backfield before yor QB has time to handoff, and that happened many times today.

I happen to think the OL play was much improved today. It's not where we need it to be, but there was marked improvement. We are not going to get fancy with the defense we have. So, you can expect the vanilla playcalling to continue until the offense is needed.

Going to that environment and pretty much owning the day is a major positive development, especially with a young QB at the helm. Stay healthy next week, and then it's the first big test of the year against Arkansas.

I am watching the game from DVR since I've been sick all day and I would like to say Vinnie Sunseri would be my nominee for the "David Bennett 'Dog' Award". God bless that hit by Sunseri was sick.

Nice comfortable win. Nice to see improvement over last week particularly with this week's lack of turnovers. AJ is coming along nicely. PSU put all they had in their first drive. Phil Savage said something like we took their best punch and then settled down. Kudos for that. Room for improvement but we do have a pretty good coaching staff to make that happen. Very happy with the win.
Oh, and remember we have a number of weapons we haven't even rolled out yet. RTR!

I was about to say that Arie was likely headed to RG I thought.

My favorite though is people complaining about run blocking and the OL's ineffectiveness but they want the offense "opened up". If we can dominate a team with about as conservative a game plan as that why not take it? You reduce the chances of needless turnovers and you win on the road against a ranked team with a QB playing his 2nd game and his first whole game. Given what Bama wanted to do I think it Almost went totally to script if CNS talked to you when cameras weren't around. I've got very little complaints. I also look forward to seeing PS get to play a good bit next week.

Anybody else notice how good the TE play was?

Congratulation to the Alabama football team and their fans. It was a great day, the weather was awesome and Penn State got beat by a superior football team. It’s as simple as that. Out played and out coached. Good luck the rest of the season.

Thanks. We, as Bama fans, certainly appreciate the PSU classy fanbase and have really enjoyed the renewal of this historic and traditional rivalry. Hope we can continue this matchup in the near future. I's good for CFB and both our fanbases. We wish the same for the PSU program and fanbase.

RTR!!!

First, I haven't looked at my recording, but, going on memory, when TR was in, they walked the LBs up until they were practically on the LOS. You can't ask an OL to block two men. It was as if they were certain we would run and dared us to pass. When EL was in, there was a lot more space and a more normal defensive formation. It was if they weren't so certain we'd run with EL. I don't think they realized that TR is #1 and EL is #1A - there's not much drop-off at all, if any.

I also like our OL. Yes maybe the holes were not always there but Lacy seem to find some. But for me AJ only got knock down one time in the game and if you watch the replay the defender did it with one hand on his face mask(no penalty). One of the most frustrating things last year is how many times Greg had to scramble or got knock down. But yesterday AJ never seem to have to worry and maybe by design. Either way I like our OL and the fact they protected the QB.

In regards to play calling I think it was little conservative but again on the road at a tough stadium in a full house with a young QB I will take it. But also I am not sold on Maze being a true #1 option. He was good last year because the main focus with our passing game was JJ and Maze is no JJ. I think once we get Hanks and Carter you will see us open it up a little more and then Maze can return to the #2 option where he is very dangerous when he gets the ball.

Overall great game for UA and our defense for this early in the season is going to be a nightmare for teams with the way they sufficate offenses.

Great Win & yes I picked 48-3 Bama but was wrong..
I don't see the o line as bad as some I think AJ only got hit once, and Lacy did a fine job.
MM was still hurting you could tell from some of the drops
The DB's had some many ball in their hands you can just see the picks coming
But xo they ever hit I mean Wow, they are beast

Now please don't forget that no matter their record PSU has always been at team that hits & plays good ole smash mouth football when anyone plays them they know they were in a dog fight.

This is what makes this series so great.

Give the o line some credit, they did good not great but good

Finally getting a chance to watch the replay. And you are correct..at least for the first 3 series
