Re: Most random place to see Alabama fans

Seeing how I wear Bama shirts 6 out of 7 days I get lots of Roll Tide remarks in LA. Seems the Tide is now known in So Cal in a big way.

Re: Most random place to see Alabama fans

I was at BB Kings in Times Square last summer with the Bama polo and band saw it, played a real nice jazz version of Sweet Home and ended it with a ''Roll Tide to the couple in the left corner''.
Pretty cool I thought.

That's funny, until you see an Iraqi with a shirt on in IRAQ.

ALSO, In West Virginia!! Scary place!
The takeout on the Gauley River is a creek which winds up into a trailer park. It was littered with carcasses of refrigerators and the like. We kayakers were warned by our shuttle driver not to change out in the open, because the prior week, some yakkers had had shots fired at their bare rears. Our shuttle driver had just gotten out of jail on MJ charges. He was the son of a local judge... :D

Ohio Stadium during the Ohio State v. Toledo game this year. I was there for a corporate event, he was there with his wife. We were both leaving at the beginning of the fourth quarter to make sure we were home for the kickoff of the Bama v. Penn State game.

Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993 has to be the most random place I ran into a fellow Bama fan.

Saw a group of Alabama fans (in Alabama gear) on Notre Dame's campus on the day we played Air Force. I tossed in a couple "Roll Tide"s but they probably thought I was being sarcastic since I was in ND gear at the time >_>

Helmand Province, Marjah, Afghanistan. While I was deployed there, my terp "Tom" had an Alabama shirt and an ANA soldier had some Alabama boxers. No *Ubarn merchandise to be found though.

Most random place for me was in Lead, South Dakota. I had on my Bama T-shirt and Bama Ball Cap, and was exiting the elevator at the hotel I was staying in. A rather large group of chinese tourest were entering the hotel and at least 12 of them yelled a hearty "ROLL TIDE" to me as I passed. I couldn't help but chuckle when I got out of their sight....Since their "ROLL TIDE" sounded more like "Rrrrr Ride"

I had two Japanese girls yell Roll Tide at me while we were waiting for
'Old Faithful' to erupt. (They saw my hat)
I hollered Rammer Jammer back to them then a man on the other side of Ole Faithful hollered back with a Roll Tide.
(almost an echo ) It was special to me...

You can find me strolling around the streets of St Petersburg Russia today. Possibly in Siberia in the past. Various parts of China, Columbia and who knows where I will liable to be.

Bama fans are everywhere!

Been in Europe since 2006 and have gotten a Roll Tide greeting several times. Mostly Americans traveling abroad, but a few locals too! Recently at the Volksfest in Stuttgart a German approached me and we chatted about this years dominate team. He knew his stuff too. I was impressed.

Biker Festivals? Does anybody else think this tattoo of Coach Bryant looks a little like Garrett Morris of the original Saturday Night Live?

Re: Most random place to see Alabama fans

I went on a school trip to Greece, and though they weren't Bama fans, usually when we told the natives (restaurant staff, sheep skin sellers, rug makers, etc.) we were from Alabama they would respond with a "Roll Tide!" You can imagine how T.O.ed the Barn fans were. In a restaurant a staff member said Roll Tide! and an Auburn fan in our group said War Eagle! The staff member said..."What? What is War Eagle?"
Must stink to be the other school.:p

Re: Most random place to see Alabama fans

Chicago, but hear me out. I was walking down into Wrigleyville (near Wrigley Field), and my wife saw an Alabama flag flying on a bar. So we investigated. Turns out it is an Alabama bar in Chicago. Now that's random. The bartender casually said they opened it since there were no other Alabama bars in Chicago, like that makes a bar there totally reasonable. I met several Alabama fans there over a beverage.
