Don't know about you, but it always distresses me when Jess Nicholas picks us to lose. Unfortunately it was well founded, as he had us losing by 3 to the Tigahs 20-17. His only wrong pick was Ole Siss to beat KY.

And he should have been wrong on this one. LSU had ONE, ONE chance at the end zone that wasn't the result of a Bama mistake. They got a field goal. W/O AJ's int they score 3 points. Bama had chance after chance to score TDs and FGs. I counted at least 26 points left on the field. You can do that kind of crap against Kent St. not so much against #1 ranked Louisiana St. I can assure you Les doesn't want a rematch. I think the reason people are so distraught is that this was Bama's best chance at a NC for a while. Everything lined up perfect and we have the best D in a generation. To not even get a chance to win the division is almost too much to stomach considering the team that is out there.

I agree and it will take me a while to get over this one.

Siiiiiiigh....so I've slept on it. And this one stings. Big time. Before the season started my attitude was that if we didn't win it all this year it might be a while before we do again. At least 8 guys that trotted out as a starter for the defense will be gone next season. Hightower, Upshaw, Barron, Lester, Kirkpatrick, Menzie, Chapman, and another guy that's gonna leave but should stay. On offense, Trent is gone after this year. Maze. Hanks. Vlachos. Smelley. Gone. That's a boat load of experience. And quite likely, there will be attrition due to success on our coaching staff. Again...this one REALLY stings.

Going forward for the rest of this season, we're the walking wounded for an underachieving Miss St team whose season would be complete if they can somehow pull off an upset against us. But I'm concerned for Dre. You never know what effects concussions will have long term. Jones & Maze with the ankles are iffy too. BIG kudos to both of them for performing at high levels in spite of injury.

About the catch/interception: it was a game changing play but not a game deciding play. We had other opportunities and didn't capitalize.

About the kickers: I'm good with it all. The first 2 misses by Cade would have been difficult for any kicker. And the one Shelley had blocked was bound to happen. He's not a long range kicker. And Danielson was right. The trajectory on the ball was way low in an effort to put distance on it.

Hindsight is hindsight. One thing I was curious about was the absence of CJ Mosley until late in the game. Wonder what that was about.

Too late in the season to second guess the QB now. AJ is our guy. And he did some good things. The enormity of the game probably got to him a couple times, but none bigger than him taking the sack in OT. That's not squarely on him because we should have never been in a long distance situation that forced us to pass in the first place.

As aforementioned I didn't want to think about us losing. But I did say to my employee (the LSU fan who I just might fire tomorrow just because......I'm kidding) that if we lost, it would be because of us and not because of LSU. Sometimes I hate being right..

EDIT: Roll Tide

How does one of the top rushing teams in the entire country - with a Heisman Trophy candidate at RB - not run a single running play in OT??? Keep in mind that you've averaged over three yards per carry for the game. Not great; but definitely good enough to keep moving the chains.

We'll be psycho-analyzing this one for ages.

I had to get off TideFans for awhile to cool down. We lost to the #1 team in the country. We had our chances but came up short. MSU is up next and we still have alot to play for. A BCS bowl is still not out of the question. RTR!!!

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

I know that over the past two weeks we've had a lot of people saying that when we won, they could just see all the LSU folks whining and crying and giving all these excuses as to why they lost; that you play those that your team brings against those that our team brings; about all the different things that go into winning a game and the things that cause a team to lose.
Well, guess what? We played our best guys against their best guys. They won and we lost, but now what do we hear?
A bunch of those same folks whining, crying and complaining about those same things that happened that caused us to lose.
Get over it, folks. Whether it was the players, the coaches, the refs, the time of day or night, the heat, the cold, the humidity or lack thereof, or who was picked to win over who. None of that matters. LSU was the better team on the field. Congrats to them for the win.
Ya'll take the rest of the day to commiserate, then let's move on. MSU awaits.

I have never seen Bama beat LSU in person. We last saw the play in 07. When the coin is tossed. Isn't it supposed to hit the ground, not thrown and the referee catches it?

It is part of the recovery process. We love this team and this program, so the loss yesterday feels like a death in the family. We can only hope that our anger doesn't get our of hand. Being angry and venting doesn't mean that we should say things that aren't true or strike out in a negative way at people who love the Tide as much as we do.

I thought it was odd as well...also I don't think he ever showed the Bama players the coin, only the LSU players, but maybe I missed it. Some we were watching the game with, commented on that when it happened during the game...

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

I have read a lot about the coaches & their mistakes but I have a different take on it. The real mistake I think was letting ESPN full access for a whole week. I think it did the same thing as Training Days Rolling with the Tide did to the very talented team last year.
With that said, I think the coach especially CNS did the Best they could to get us in a position to win. We just did not take advantage of those opportunities.
November 5[SUP]th[/SUP] LSU was a Better team, I truly thought we would just blow them out, you kept waiting for it to happen but it never came.
One thing though, Our Players played their heart out, Many on the field with injuries & hurting. This team deserves a lot of credit for not giving up.
I hope the Coach can hold them together because you just never know what is next in college football, maybe another shot is not totally out of the question.

If any players or family of players read these forums, I just want them to know how much the fans appreciate the effort they put forth & all the Great games they have given us this year. It looks like when you recruit a certain type of player with questionable character it is helping teams in the short run, I am Proud that Coach Saban has not done that. The Teams we have had since he has been here are the foundation to a dynasty. The walls & roof are being buit.
Thank you Team & especially the Seniors for the commitment.

Visiting team calls "heads or tails" and the ref was making it clear to the LSU captain which side was which before the toss. Everyone around could see after the toss.

Was this ref a magician working for LSU?

Long term you are right, but it is way too early to start getting on to our own for hurting. I think a certain mod who is a head shrink could talk about the grieving process or something, but I dang sure aint to the acceptance part yet. I think I need some high explosives and large caliber weapons destroying some old purple and yellow car to ease my pain ....

Re: ****Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU****

I understand peoples need to vent and critique everything and am fine with it as long as it doesn't cross the line. I guess I'm one of the few fans thats moved on already.

I'm as disappointed as anybody but at the end of the day you can't change what happened, we certainly had our moments of being able to take this game over and couldn't/didn't for a variety of reasons, some coaching decisions, some poor execution, out-of-character penalties (this one kills me) play-calling etc. But me sitting behind a computer questioning everything doesn't accomplish a darn thing. We played another great team and they found a way to take the win.
Our staff and the team now have to focus on what to fix and get their minds on MSU and finishing the season on an up-note.

I noticed that. I can always remember the coin hitting the ground not the way it was tossed in ot. Just an observation.

I'm as bummed as anyone but there's still a lot to play for. We gotta regroup and finish strong.
