Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA
Exactly...If by fry, you mean pay it back and play the 2013 season.

Ten bucks says this post shows up on ITAT in the next five minutesHow much do you think we can get the REC to pay this guy for the video? Heck we could get contribution from the other fanbases on A&M's schedule this year lol.
Since when? If you're applying Cam Newton rules, sure... but if you're applying the rules they used when hammering several other schools, they certainly don't have to prove anything. The problem is they still have no proof of payment. They can have all the video they want of him signing items but they have to prove he received money.
Ol Johnny knows how the game goes. He is smarter than the Ohio State gang from tattoo-gate.On the videos, which the broker said were recorded without Manziel's knowledge, ESPN heard Manziel say "you never did a signing with me" and that if the broker were to tell anyone, he would refuse to deal with him again in the future. Manziel, who appeared comfortable throughout the video recordings, also said if asked, he would say he had simply been approached by various autograph seekers.
That would be such an honor for me haha. Although the way they got hammered by A&M last year I think the would be wise to contribute, that was a horrific beating.Ten bucks says this post shows up on ITAT in the next five minutes![]()
I have pets smarter than the Ohio State gang from tattoo-gate (including Tressel).Ol Johnny knows how the game goes. He is smarter than the Ohio State gang from tattoo-gate.
You are correct. Look at recent cases involving AJ Green and our own Marcel Dareus. They had to pay back the money AND they missed games. Green missed 4; seems like Dareus missed 2.Can somebody who knows the rules clear this up? I thought that was only for incidental benefits of marginal value.
The NCAA has never explicitly required definitive proof of monetary transfers -- in fact they've almost never required it before doling out punishment -- and as voluminous as the circumstantial evidence is here I tend to doubt they will require it in this case. This still just seems like a lot of hot air. Without money changing hands, and proof thereof, I don't see anything happening to him.
The most crucial part of this latest revelation is that it proves scienter on Manziel's part beyond any reasonable doubt whatsoever. That will most certainly change how the NCAA addresses this ordeal. If this video actually surfaces, it makes it clear that he undertook an intentional act that he knew was in violation of the rules and that, moreover, he actively took step to avoid being caught.Nothing may happen to JM's playing status, but now everyone knows he's guilty and he knew what he was doing. His hands are dirty.

The Cam Newton rule....Maybe he'll get suspended for 24 hours...
I'm not referring to what the NCAA's manual says or doesn't say. It's just my gut feeling on the whole deal. You know more about these things than I do, so I defer to you, but still I have doubts that this goes anywhere. The NCAA has never explicitly required definitive proof of monetary transfers -- in fact they've almost never required it before doling out punishment -- and as voluminous as the circumstantial evidence is here I tend to doubt they will require it in this case.
I believe Dareus was pretty up front with the NCAA along with Bama's compliance department doing everything it possibly could to take care of the situation.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5585220
AJ Green's case was over 1000 dollars. Had to repay to charity and suspended for 4 games.

Dareus's case was over 1700 dollars and change, and he had to repay and missed 2 games. I can't remember why the variance in games missed.
Or you can compare that to kids from North Carolina and Miami, for example, who were given bans that in some cases were for the entire year, or who were declared permanently ineligible for college athletics. You are correct. Look at recent cases involving AJ Green and our own Marcel Dareus. They had to pay back the money AND they missed games. Green missed 4; seems like Dareus missed 2.

I had not considered the point in bold. Johnny's fame is probably going to be his undoing in all of this.ESPN has acknowledged the tapes exist; If somebody like TMZ buys them, that could be enough. NCAA isn't a court of law, they just need enough to make a determination that he violated the rules.
This is also in addition to the alleged signings mentioned in the recent article.
