Yes, what I've gathered too.

I'm just finding it hard to be excited and optimistic that we'll suddenly turn the corner next year.
I think a lot of us would agree with you, although I don't want to speak for others. However, there are a few bright spots on the team (Taylor, Hale, Randolph with his recent play), so I think many of us are holding out hope Coach Grant can get it turned around.
I've had a less-than-positive outlook at times this season, but have been a huge Grant supporter throughout his tenure. I want him to succeed and if he gets another year, I'll be hoping we win every game next year.
Overall, he's got a decent record. We have got to start making the NCAA tournament every once in a while, because ultimately, that's really what determines a team's success at this level. I'm not expecting 'Bama to make a run at the Final 4 all the time, but being in the hunt for an occasional SEC championship and making the Tournament more times than not should be our goal.

OK...we need to learn to play defense with our "feet" and not our "hands". To me the "fouls" are a result of poor conditioning and not thinking at times.

I really think some of our defensive intensity was lost at the beginning of the year when Releford was in constant foul trouble. That combined with the new foul rules we could not aggressively guard the ball, which will make it really tough for CAG teams going forward.

You are correct about everything you said. However my point was that after the first couple games this year TR was in foul trouble early in games. We then backed off of the ball a little bit we also played more 2-3 zone because of it as well. That was my point.

I wonder how may "offensive fouls" we have as opposed to defensive? BTW - The SC coach with the "pony tail" has to go!

Isn't this the wost record in like 40 years. Part of me wants to see CAG get a chance to coach the new kids, but I have no confidence that we will turn it around next year relying on freshmen and transfers.

Yeah. Pretty much despair all way around...
It's just hard to be excited about another year when there there is very little tangible evidence that things will get better.

I know it's not football, but since someone made the comparison, does anybody think CNS would have made it this far into his career at Bama it he would have pulled off 3 or 4 mediocre years and then had a losing season???

We'll never know.

Thank Heaven.

Any chance Battle has the smarts to either fire Grant or tell him he can come back but, he (Battle) will hire him a couple of assistants (one to direct the offense and one as a shooting guru) and turn over the offense to them?

The problem with that is what quality assistant coach would want to come when a coach has been "given" one more year to turn it around. If you as an administrator even think about it a little bit that it is time to make a change then it is time.

When the star on the team is barely 6 foot tall in mens basketball, you know that team is in trouble in the SEC this day and time. ;)
So, I had the game on and my wife says: "There's a teeny tiny guy on the team that's taller than you."... :p_blank:

Agreed. We absolutely need a new SC coach. Look at our guys after 3 to 4 years in the program and then look at UF players 3 to 4 years into their S&C program.

He is the new strength and conditioning coach. He's responsible for Jacobs finally getting in shape and Taylor putting on the weight he did. If our S&C still isn't up to par that is a another Coach Grant issue.

I for one MISS CMG, i said it then and I'll say it now WE SHOULD OF KEPT HIM. Ok, now thats out of the way, we need a new coach badly.. Our team has the Poorest offensive scheme I think Ive ever seen.. CAG can't keep our best players, and the ones he recruits are a joke.. Engstrom and Randolph in particular.. I can do nothing but laugh when i watch the 7 foot swede get out rebounded by a 6 ft 4 sf.. Randolphs skills arnt that impressive either, the kid can barely make a layup. What I wouldn't give for a T mitchell power slam and a J green post move.. This has been the first time in my life Ive tried not to watch bama basketball, its way to painstaking. I think we should FIRE grant and go after Bruce pearl before the barn does... Forget the 4 or 5 million buyout, we have the money. CBP could turn our program around and doing so would cover his new contract, and CAG buyout.. No guts nO glory...
