Jameis Winston investigated for sexual assault - and...no charges to be filed...

I'd love nothing more than for someone to shout at the top of their lungs "RAPIST" in the middle of his speech after he wins the Heisman tomorrow night. Or have a crowd at the door when they go in. Heckle the crap out of him. I'm sure there's some Gators fans in NY that would love nothing more than to embarrass this piece of trash.

I wish the police would show up and cuff him on the Heisman stage.

Probably no where because, if you look around the web, the media as a whole is largely ignoring this press conference. Without any public outcry from the media there will be no pressure on the AG to pursue this case. You can look at the Trevon Martin case as an example of the other end of that spectrum, George Zimmerman would never have been brought to trial if was not for the media outrage and demands of highly influential public figures. The media is mostly backing Winston and those same public figures will never speak out against him for reasons that can go unspoken. To put it bluntly, the girl was raped by the wrong person, she never had a chance of a fair shot at justice.

I find the media's treatment of these two ordeals HIGHLY ironic. Especially some of the blog writers from the sports sites I read. They were wholly against Zimmerman and wanted him to be executed, but they are almost universally in Winston's corner on this and think the woman was trying to set him up.

I haven't seen the press conference yet but will look it up later.

Anyone have a link?

I'm 100% with you folks...how this guy won those 2 awards last night.....not to mention is the favorite for the Heisman.........is beyond me!

What a disgrace upon college football!!! :(

Update from Deadspin: FSU investigates Winston and the two teammates for school conduct charges

Weeks after leading the Florida State Seminoles to a national championship, quarterback Jameis Winston was quietly interrogated by university administrators, and two of his teammates were brought up on school conduct charges related to allegations that Winston raped a fellow student, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation. It had not previously been known whether FSU had initiated what's called a Title IX investigation. Now we know.

The two teammates, Chris Casher and Ronald Darby, were recently charged with five violations of the university's code of conduct, according to the source, who spoke with Deadspin on condition of anonymity because the university's proceedings were confidential. Winston doesn't currently face any conduct charges.

And now FSU is under investigation for their investigation job.

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights opened an investigation of Florida State University into whether its handling of the Jameis Winston rape allegations violated Title IX laws, according to a letter confirming the decision that was obtained by USA TODAY Sports.

An FSU student said she was raped by Winston on Dec. 7, 2012. Deadspin reported Thursday that school officials met with Winston in late January to discuss the alleged assault. But as it attempts to comply with Title IX, the school might have further violated the law. Both a lengthy delay in conducting the investigation and a meeting only with Winston contradict guidance given to schools in 2011 by OCR.

How convenient it was to have this investigation after FSU had secured the national title..

Just fantastic fortune for the Seminoles. I'm sure the entire thing is above board and beyond reproach.

Oh... blue font and all that.:rolleye2:

Not to downplay a serious incident, which was probably improperly handled and needs remedy, get ready for the wailing and gnashing of teeth about who should get the BCS trophy, when it gets vacated.

Not sure how much of that should be in blue.

Those these two are "charged" for being on the periphery of what JW did, but "didn't do." How does that happen? How can you be at fault or "responsible" for your involvement with something that is being said not to have occurred?

This makes my brain hurt. :(

The way I read the conduct charges, I believe they are essentially being charged with causing the two consenting adults to be uncomfortable. After all, who wants folks walking in?

Clearly, they are going under the belief the incident was consensual and not rape.

Winston took the 5th when F$U questioned him.

Correct. But the teammates are still being charged with breaking student conduct rules. Staci asked how they could be charged with student conduct rules if Winston wasn't charged with a crime. Seems like FSU says the players were being rude to Winston and the girl.
