I don’t get why everyone hates him. He gives great insight, and actually calls a good game as color. I guess it’s just me.
It's not just you.

People let their emotions color their perceptions.

When every single team in the SEC thinks Gary Danielson hates them, it most likely means he's actually very impartial...

Really happy we pulled out that win, but please tell me how I'm supposed to feel about:

1. Our chances against Georgia?
2. How in the world our offense couldn't score a TD until the last minute of the game?
3. Is BOB really the problem and how does that factor into question #1?
4. Am I supposed to be back on the Pete Golding train now?
1. I like our chances if the o-line plays with a pulse.
2. See #1
3. Partially & see #1
4. NO, NO, a thousand times NO!!!

Reality is there are a lot of front runner Alabama fans, though I'll spot CA on two points:
1) he is an alum, and I am not (so he gets a lot more leeway)
2) he explained his why in this thread eloquently

I never give up, and I didn't even give up tonight. I just figured we were dead, and I had to (oh boy) go to work tonight. My hope was we'd put this one away early so I could rest up some more before a 12-hour night shift at Covid-ville.
I have turned off 2 Bama games in my entire life. 2018/2019 clempson game after our weird fake FG attempt and now this one. I regret giving up on this one. I will say it again I did not think we would get the ball back.

Im trying to think but I believe the last game I have fully checked out on is 2003 Georgia game. I did stop in the 4th vs Clemson but I suffered enough.

My only problem with Gary is when he seems to focus on one non-call and not let it go. He seems oblivious to other non-calls or just let's them go immediately.

that’s just it, he’s not impartial. The CBS crew licks a team they want to win and you can hear it in their voices as plays happen. I’ve watched games Bama wasn’t in to remove MY bias and I quickly picked up on who they wanted to win. I can promise you that they will be pulling for UGA next week. They are supposed to be unbiased and when they arent it grates on your nerves.

I said earlier this week that we would play a tad better against auburn but our best game of the year against Georgia. Didn't think our "tad better" against auburn wouldn't start until late in the 4th quarter though. Once we made the field goal ole mo was on our side. The 4th down play sealed it and I knew we were going to win right then and there. Wifey was freaking out, she's a negative Nancy. Was sweet when I "told her so" YAY RTR

I am dead right now. The wife and I got into Alabama football in 2006 when we moved to Bama. I just asked her if I could travel back and change things, prevent us from going down this trail of fandom-would she prefer that. She wasn't sure.

We are spoiled. We had to suffer a season and then Lord Saban showed up and fixed everything. Many of you have spent decades in the desert waiting with a taste of glory in 92, so I don't speak from having truly having experienced the lows.

We dread it.
It was only one decade, the 80s, so it wasn’t too bad Won a couple of SEC titles and other good seasons. Was a top 10 program during that time.

1997-2006 was another matter.

That's why I thought it was in my best interest to step out of the game thread, too.

I can handle losing, folks. I - perhaps more than any poster on this board - will say, "Yeah, it was a bad call but YOU HAVE TO OVERCOME IT, and we made mistakes, etc etc." I still firmly believe this with all I am.

But I'm also convinced that horrific non-call on a DPI was largely why Jameson Williams got ejected for targeting. I think he was so frustrated at the utter bull crap nonsense that he did what competitors do and decided to take it into his own hands. That's wrong, and you can't do that, but I firmly believe that's what happened.

I'm tired of teams faking injuries like A/M did.
I'm tired of referees suddenly turning into Helen Keller when we play Auburn at Jerking Hare.
I mean, I don't like Gus Malzahn's high school crap, but at least that's something where as lame as it is, he flat up beats you with it. I don't like it, and I don't respect it, but I accept it.

But quite frankly, I was to the level of approving a full-on assault on the officiating crew early on because that was just plain pathetic. And yes - if we had lost, it would STILL have been OUR fault for failing to execute.

But I'm tired of the feeling every other year that eight guys dressed like zebras have decided that they're on the payroll and can't go against the fambly, so they create the most monstrous crap.
Amen
