Yes, the message needs to be delivered clearly that the response will be swift and decisive, as in elimination of the Russian Pacific, Baltic and/or Northern Fleets, the Russian military presence in Syria, Russian forces in Transnistria and/or Georgia, etc. I have to assume that message has already been delivered.

I can't explain it. The obvious answer is "they're bought" but I cannot imagine selling my principles (and other people) for money, yet I cannot think of another answer that makes sense.

That looks better for Paul, but I still can't get past his arguing that "they were part of the soviet union", as if that matters at all.
Perhaps we should give Louisiana back to the French, and Alaska back to Russia. Or America back to the Native Americans.
