Can you link the reports or are these just hearsay from fans present today?Weird, reports I read made it sound like Ty simpson was the best one but who knows?? Still got all of fall camp to figure it out.
Honestly, not surprising.

Arm punt = bad INT? What's the context? Forced it OR had 3rd and long and tried to hit one downfield that was the equivalent of a punt?Sounds like QBs had an up and down day at the open practice today. Allegedly Buchner didn't look great, Milroe and Ty were up in down with maybe Milroe looking like the best one but some saying Ty looked better outside a really bad arm punt
Only one practice and an open one so 🤷â€Â♂ï¸Â
Just tweets I read from some media people. And I take all of that with a grain of salt. I’ll track some down but honestly they don’t mean crap to me. I feel good about this team. Can you link the reports or are these just hearsay from fans present today?
It seemed mixed some said Ty some said Milroe. But honestly more seemed to say Milroe.Weird, reports I read made it sound like Ty simpson was the best one but who knows?? Still got all of fall camp to figure it out.

I'm mostly reading stuff from.other boards. Mix of fans and "staff" on the boardCan you link the reports or are these just hearsay from fans present today?
Sounds like the ball slipped out of his hand I think it was picked. May have been because his hands were sweaty. He apparently was wearing multiple towels lol. If milroe actually puts it together…holy crap is Alabama going to be killer. It seemed mixed some said Ty some said Milroe. But honestly more seemed to say Milroe.

True and you have to remember this is the word of media and fans not guys who have actually played the game. It's one practice so I wouldn't take it as definitive in any way.
However, at this point it sounds like Milroe is still QB1 in the order and I'd be surprised if he doesn't take the first snap week 1. Besides that who knows
IMO, he's likely #1 (first in the rotation) because of seniority. That's a CNS standard in cases like these. It's one practice so I wouldn't take it as definitive in any way.

I hope he continues to make noise and ends up winning the dang job. Also apparently Lonergan looked great against the 3s
I think the biggest issue with him is will he know the playbook well enough as a freshman and is he physically readyI hope he continues to make noise and ends up winning the dang job.
Agreed I think that's at least partially true. But that's also why I think he'll take the first snap. Idk what that means for the Texas game or the rest of the season though.IMO, he's likely #1 (first in the rotation) because of seniority. That's a CNS standard in cases like these.
I know the deep ball is sexy but to me going through your progressions and how a qb handles adversity is what I am looking for.I think all 3 leading quarterbacks will do great. I think the one that is most consistent throwing deep should get the start. Simpson had a good deep throw to Bond. Milroe had a couple as well. We definitely need the deep ball threat.
We have 3 talented quarterbacks. I think all 3 will be fine with that.I know the deep ball is sexy but to me going through your progressions and how a qb handles adversity is what I am looking for.
No disrespect but handling actual adversity and mentally processing the game is way way way harder than throwing the ball 40 yards down the field. We have 3 talented quarterbacks. I think all 3 will be fine with that.

Just watched a podcast with Jimmy Stein and he had some similar thoughts. Thought Milroe might have had a slightly better day, but he believes Simpson is gaining ground and will eventually overtake him for the starting role...even if Milroe starts game 1.From a neutral observer who was there.
I thought all three quarterbacks -- Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner -- made some good throws.
Simpson did have a deep ball that got away from him and was picked by corner Trey Amos. Milroe had a tipped ball over the middle that could have been picked. Buchner had a pass batted down at the line of scrimmage by Damon Payne. But, overall, all three QBs made some good throws.
Keep in mind that OL coach Eric Wolford was shuffling the offensive line around every few plays and working different combinations, which can make it difficult on the quarterbacks.
Working on the other end of the field, true freshmen QBs Dylan Lonergan and Eli Holstein also made a few nice throws. Lonergan had a very nice strike to Malik Benson.
Of the three main competitors, Ty Simpson caught my eye on a few plays as he stood in the pocket and delivered strikes downfield between defenders. He threw a dart to Isaiah Bond, who ran it into the end zone.
I wasn't charting throws or anything, but Ty impressed me the most today. That's not a prediction. It's an observation from one practice. He looks to have more potential as a passer than either Milroe or Buchner.
I will say, however, that in the limited times I've seen Milroe, his performance today was the best I've seen from him. His throws were mostly accurate, and he protected the ball. He had a great throw deep down the middle of the end zone dropped by Bond.
It's a little early to judge Buchner. Everything is so new to him. But I like the way he handles himself. He was under a lot of pressure and made some quick decisions to checkdowns. He had a deep ball into the end zone that Terrion Arnold (I think it was) jarred loose from Jermaine Burton.
Well now I am conflicted. I have been as critical of jalen milroe as anybody on here. But if he has improved as a passer I am not sure how with his size and athleticism you keep him off the field. But it sounds like simpson is gaining ground and is a better pure passer.Just watched a podcast with Jimmy Stein and he had some similar thoughts. He also said he thinks there is a clear separation by MIlroe and Simpson from Buckner. Just based on a few passes I've seen from Buckner, he's not super accurate with his throws.
I think Milroe's feet keep him in the mix more than his arm, but it sounds like his passing has improved. I'm still leery of his short to midrange accuracy and I think that's why Simpson will win the job eventually.
