Same old story for our TEs. I always hear "this is the year we are gonna start utilizing our TEs more", and we do for a little bit, but it's never consistent. That's all we heard during the OJ Howard era, and I heard it again this year. It's a shame, because when we do utilize them, it's a nightmare for the defense, especially when you have a physical freak like Howard and Niblack.

all true, but I really do think this year the plan was for more opportunity for them all. There were SO many times that Outz, Dipree and Niblack were open in zone gaps. It was really really frustrating to watch, so I can't imagine being one of those guys and doing all the things they do, then when the call does open up an opportunity for one of them, the play isn't executed the way it should be...

TE are huge in the college game...except at Bama apparently. They can be a difference maker but for some reason, we have struggled to get them involved effectively for a few seasons. Puzzling this year since Rees was from ND and they use TE's a lot

Latu was heavily involved in 2021 and 2022…

I guess our definition of heavily differs...He appeared in 51 games (26 starts) in five years (2018-22) at Alabama and registered 56 recepts....basically one a game. Irv Smith is what i want...2 years 58 receptions...and a game changer! ...We got Dippre in the portal....he had 30 receptions in his SO year at Maryland...he had 11 this season for us...

That's not how it went down though. Played LB year one and redshirted. Switched to TE year 2, and played pretty much only special teams while adjusting to new role. Injured in year 3 so didn't play in 21 played in 15 games, with 26 catches so not quite 2 per game, but had 8 TDs - so a 3rd of his catches were scores. In 22 had 11 games, 30 catches so almost 3 per game. That's pretty productive for a TE.

I think will lose Simpson, Niblack, Henderson, already gone is Preston and I have this uneasy feeling Haynes will leave, hear me out, Haynes was running crazy and all of sudden he's not there, he showed he can man up against a good defense some one will come calling

I dont think Haynes leaves................I think there is a role for him and I look for him to overtake one of the other guys soon.

But Bama does need to get the TE involved more..............not sure why they arent utilized more, as other teams do it with impunity against Bama. Not sure if it's an offensive philosophy, but it needs to change, and they need to start getting the ball...............losing Niblack is a bad thing with his potential

really hope we keep Haynes. He had a pretty significant brace on his arm so maybe he's been a little banged up and that's why he wasn't playing and his reps were limited against UM.

It makes no sense for Haynes to leave. He will have every chance to RB1 next year
I agree. He is that guy that just looks like he’s a one broken tackle away from a house call on any play. Honestly he’s seemed more dynamic than Jam in his limited playing time.

That’s because he’s just running the ball, Jam has more responsibility when he’s in the game. Haynes is just getting his feet wet.

That being said, there’s no doubt he’s special.

I mean strictly running the ball. He has a better burst and seems to have good vision and balance.

I’d bet their lack of targets wasn’t because of the OC, but I didn’t see every game. Didn’t have to, to know JM has issues acquiring targets.
