Let’s see how much sympathy anybody not named Alabama gets when it comes to a team getting unmercifully gutted due to a coaching change. Maybe this provokes the NCAA to put something in place before the season but I dare not to get my hopes up.
The other takeaway is the reminder that yes, Alabama is going to lose some players to the portal but they can go right back into the portal and get some guys back. Arizona did lose to Miss. State, but they were still 10-3 and third in the Pac-12. So, you just have to be prepared to go get some of these guys to fill the holes.

It's kind of what kicked off when Saban retired, Alabama loses Saban, takes Washington's coach, Washington then goes and takes Arizona's coach. Well, Alabama loses a star player, time to take a look at Washington and Arizona and see what they have.

There's nothing we can do but gripe about it until something actually changes.

So, we can't be too mad at our players leaving, but then turn around and rejoice over a player leaving their team to come to Bama.

Agreed. This stuff is complicated so I'm taking my cues from The Goat. Nick Saban appears to love Caleb Downs and his family. I obviously won't pull for him next September. But to call down Old Testament ruin on Downs and all the other Portalites seems a bit much. Caleb Downs played his guts out for Alabama last season. He and the others will be playing for a new team now. We'll be cheering for the players who stayed.

RTR.

Turf toe and groin pulls acceptable, with a side of hamstring issues?

Well that is discouraging coming from a legacy like Marlon. Money is only part of it. I will never again look at today's players with the same appreciation that I have for those who came before them.
Doesn't Marlon's tweet bring all of this in to question. Perhaps the past players we now judge as loyal only were so because they didn't have the option not to be.

If you read back, everyone here has been blasting the portal and NIL all along, even when it benefited Alabama. There is no inconsistency.

I'm trying to be fair with these guys, the next person who offers me a couple hundred thousand plus dollars to change schools will be the first.

Loyalty is high on my list in regards to character, but I'm sidewalk "alumni", so I'm trying to really soul search on how I might respond if offered money to leave a school I might not have had a genuine tie to other than the football coach.

I also demand honesty, so Downs father's response to the interview questions were not cool with me.

It’s very odd, but those two really seem to resent Saban and Bama even more than everyone else does when you would think it would be the opposite. Oh, they say all the right things on Game Day, but it’s easy to see through the veneer.
Kirby knows he would already have five or six titles instead of just two if not for Bama. He wants to eliminate the elephant in the room, literally. We shall see if Deboer can keep us going.

They came for Saban. Not for Bama. That’s believable. We borrowed Saban. When 3/4 of your roster is from outside the state, and 1/4 are from outside the SEC, this stuff happens.

MH was a legacy, but he’s not acting like one

Something can be true but need not be said and this is one of those times. MH is a Bama alum, ""Bama family", and Saban DIDNT leave during his time so him expressing a hypothetical event publicly that could hurt his Alma mater is unnecessary but just shows me who he really is and what type of person he is. You don't see Ingram or Julio doing this.

Edit: And if I were CKD and got word of any former player doing this on social media during this time, they would be welcomed back under my watch. Because once the winning starts, the groupies like MH will want to be apart of it. "Buy a ticket son, buy a ticket..."

This makes me feel better that I always liked his dad much more!

I needed to hear this, thank you buzza

I wonder what Sarkisian is thinking, he's faced CKD twice with his Texas teams and lost both times, one as recently as this years CFP. That game up until the last quarter wasn't that close. I actually turned it off because UW was constantly up bt double digits. My guess is he isn't celebrating like many of the fans are...

And it only had an exciting ending because the Washington RB got injured so the clock stopped, leaving Texas with more time. If the RB doesn't get hurt, the clocks goes down to about 15 seconds.
