Alabama QBs in 2024, II

Do you not think he had improved in the sec championship game last year? He was hitting some short passes and he did beat Georgia. The last two drives were beautiful.

Nope. I don't think he improved at all in many key aspects. The scoring drive he went 4-4 to Bond on, all those plays were off script. He didn't execute the reads on schedule a single time. Guys were WIDE OPEN on schedule and JM didn't execute the throws. Bond deserves all the credit for taking lemons and making lemonade. That and Kirby brain farted back to the third and Kirby days we used to get so frustrated about with the 'prevent' D.

If it was only UM that shut our offense down we could just say, "They just had a great defense," but AU did too!

SECCG against Georgia was the outlier. OL decided to play that day and Jalen had a decent day.

But, maybe just maybe he has improved. Nobody knows yet. Not even CKD because there hasn't been one live scrimmage. So flexing that Jalen will be greatly improved is nothing but talk right now.

He certainly didn’t look improved at A-Day. Still, a long way to go until the season starts though.

Yes but this still feels to me like forcing a square peg in a round hole.

Hopefully he’s great with a lathe and can create a smooth fit.
Coming from a machinist that runs a lathe everyday I haven’t heard that one before. I’ll have to use that one at some point.
Well, I have to apologize to @tusks_n_raider for thinking he incorrectly typed something. I had never heard of a lathe before or if I have I didn’t remember it. Lots of knowledge here on tidefans.

I remember a lot of underthrown deep balls last year that were only successful because the WR had so much separation.

Well, I'm hoping we see some degree of improvement and development from Milroe in the areas of concern that we've all had during the offseason. Until proven otherwise, I have full confidence in CKD's track record for developing QB's will have its impact on Milroe and if not, then we'll see Ty Simpson get his shot.

I really look forward to seeing what TS will do in 2025 and 2026.

Look at Arch Manning. He's CHOOSING to sit two years to get his shot and if you think about it, that's the best way. Once Ewers is gone A Manning will have matured two years as a "man", studied the offense and practiced it. So when he steps on the field next season as the starter there will be next to zero learning curve. Simpson is basically doing what A Manning is doing. Simpson should absolutely have the inside track to the starting position next season and I don't doubt for one second he'll get reps this year in games as well.

No worries because I make typos all the time when I'm on my iPhone.

Tbh I'm not sure how I pulled 'lathe' out of my mind anyway or knew what it meant because it's not a word I really use often.

My brain got scrambled pretty good in a car wreck a few years ago and words I don't commonly use pop up all time..lol

Since you brought up the Mannings, has the Manning football camp already happened? If so, how did Jalen perform or grade in it?

When JM has time to load up and throw his arm is plenty strong.

His problem stems from such poor footwork and improper technique that at times he tries to "arm it" instead of being able to step into it. I think that is one reason he underthrew a lot of long passes last year.

The word during the off season is he was working on technique with a QB coach. I'm sure CKD will help him with these things too.

The big question will be can he improve enough in a short time to be able to implement these changes/improvements when live bullets are coming at him???

He shouldn't have to do this as a redshirt JR who has already started one season! Total fail in development!

The maturity of waiting is unusual in today's NOW culture!

Arch will probably be a baller when his time comes.

TS? I think the waiting will help him too. I sure hope he gets a lot of PT, even if JM has developed into a decent starter!

He's worked with a QB coach every offseason since starting college and he's still where he is developmentally.

Coming from the family he's in, Arch probably knew more about football in the womb than most people will ever know.

It feels like TS has been on campus for 10 years already.
