Alabama QBs in 2024, II

When JM has time to load up and throw his arm is plenty strong.

His problem stems from such poor footwork and improper technique that at times he tries to "arm it" instead of being able to step into it. I think that is one reason he underthrew a lot of long passes last year.

The word during the off season is he was working on technique with a QB coach. I'm sure CKD will help him with these things too.

The big question will be can he improve enough in a short time to be able to implement these changes/improvements when live bullets are coming at him???

He shouldn't have to do this as a redshirt JR who has already started one season! Total fail in development!
Yeah . . . Arm strength has never been an issue.

If it was only UM that shut our offense down we could just say, "They just had a great defense," but AU did too!

SECCG against Georgia was the outlier. OL decided to play that day and Jalen had a decent day.

But, maybe just maybe he has improved. Nobody knows yet. Not even CKD because there hasn't been one live scrimmage. So flexing that Jalen will be greatly improved is nothing but talk right now.
Honestly, I think people remember that game better than it was, due to the fact that he made a few plays when it mattered. I was watching the game with my uncle, and I distinctly remember telling him that Milroe was even more off than normal today. There were several opportunities to hit short routes, and the receiver had plenty of space to make a play if it was a catch, and Milroe was off by a mile. Even the plays he did make weren't pretty.

Many of his throws were pretty erratic in that game. I remember telling the people I was watching the game with that Milroe was even more off than normal.

Those plays were overshadowed by the few plays he did make that turned out to be big. The dime he threw to J Burton in the endzone was impressive, regardless of the other things he didn't do great. That was a great throw. At the end of the day or should we say, at the end of that game, he made more good plays that helped win the game than plays that lost it. I'm no Milroe apologist, but Saban even said games are basically decided on a handful of plays throughout the game and Milroe, the LOS, and the wr's made those handfuls of plays in that game. So that's all that many remember and that's all that many care about.

Isn't it pretty much the norm that when a QB leads his team to a huge win, that the great plays he made overshadow the poor plays he made?

That's true whether we're talking about Jalen Milroe or Tom Brady.

his athleticism, especially from the LSU game, spooked Kirby and he overthought how to defend him. he intimidated a brilliant defensive mind (staff?), and did enough to win. We coulda scored again on the final drive if necessary. I still think we had more plays we could have dialed up in that game. I'm concerned about him moving forward, and I think he was the biggest *single* factor in the Michigan loss, but I also think he deserves a lot of credit for the UGA game (alongside the defense)

I imagine that gameplan is at the tip top of Kirby's list of career regrets.

The OL and the defense won the UGA game. Milroe made the plays when he had to, but he wasn’t the reason we won. The Michigan loss is more or less on him.

Give Harbaugh credit for the bull rush in both playoff games. His D disrupted the offensive timing and confused both QBs, ours more than the Huskies. It’s my biggest concern going into the season, as other coaches may do likewise.

For someone who supposedly has elite athleticism, Milroe just stands there and takes a lot of sacks.

Dunno why, but I have a suspicion that JM is going to look much improved running DeBoer's offense.

If he can be about 5% better he'll be a dominant force.

I think he will be better. Deboer is a player’s coach and an offensive guru. So he probably will get more help on how to improve than he ever has.

However I wish he would stop running his mouth and giving Georgia bulletin board material.

We really wanna go there?
