I was worried about the change to a 4-2-5 defense when Wommack was hired, now I’m seeing why I was so worried.

I’m used to seeing our secondary get torched but it had to take a QB playing with his hair on fire to torch them, now we’re getting gashed on the ground. I think before yesterday we were 46th in Run D, probably worse now, not used to seeing those stats for the rush D for Bama.

It looks like we went to Nashville expecting to play "Vandy." Instead we ran into a team that punched us in the mouth and didn't back down. They played dirty. They trash talked and got under our skin. But they also played hard and didn't let up. They were not intimidated. OTOH, we got frustrated, made mental mistakes, and lost our composure.

I saw a video of the field after the game. Our players were wandering around looking like they didn't know what hit them. They were shell-shocked.

What I saw yesterday was a lack of leadership. It will be interesting to see how this team responds. The next 2 games will determine the course of the season.

That Rat Poison set in deep yesterday. They'll be hearing jokes about this game the rest of the year. But they earned it.

Vanderbilt. No hangover should result in a loss to Vanderbilt. This kind of loss deserves an apology tour to the entire fanbase. I never want to hear one of these players say some self promoting hype garbage ever again.
Unfortunately, I don't think the players opinions of themselves are going to change. They're probably practicing new end zone celebrations as I'm typing this.

If you watched the HBO series Hard Knocks last year covering the Dolphins, they did that literally every week. They took time from every practice to work on TD celebrations. It was no surprise that they could not beat the better teams on their schedule.

Far cry from the notion that, when you play on the road, it is actually a “business trip”, not a debut for “Dancing with the Stars”.

Yes. Blaming officials is the last refuge of the true loser. If you blame officials for losses, then you have to credit them for wins.
Nonsense. The officiating has been criticized for all five games ... and we won four of those.

I can understand the zebras missing a foul here and there, but constantly? NO! Watch the tape; Vandy's #54 got away with holding on nearly every play. It was a HUGE reason so many lanes opened for their QB and their RB.

I suspect the Commodores coaches even game-planned around 54's ability to get away with such holds....

I am trying to figure out if this was the worse loss that I can remember. As of now, I think it is. I thought we might lose a game or two, but Vandy sure wasn't on the radar. ...

The panic that comes with a loss is amazing.
It’s not panic. Was making a dark joke. But it’s a statement on the lack of maturity and focus of this team. They disgraced themselves yesterday. That was a historic loss that will go down as a trivia question for all time. They are going to have to demonstrate that they actually give a dang about every team going forward. They have lost any benefit of the doubt that they can beat any team, because they clearly don’t have the mental fortitude to show up and beat teams they should beat.

Will we actually lose to Mercer? Highly unlikely. But I have no confidence in this team anymore. Just a bunch of guys high on their own press, and we don’t have a Tim Tebow to straighten them out.

The last time we lost to Vanderbilt I wasn’t even alive. And wouldn’t be for years. My parents hadn’t even met. But people are pretending like losing to Vandy is no big deal, no different than losing to A&M in 2012. Come on.

One of the things that I think set the tone for our disaster was having two players in the game with the same number at the same time! As a coach, I don't understand that "strategy" at all. That's stupid and I think that was a big turning point in the game.
Players coaches want to give players numbers that they want to wear. Lots of that going around.
