No melting today because I melted over the Oklahoma loss when it happened (and was criticized for it).

Unless you really don't understand how things go (and most of you don't), you had to know our season was virtually over at that point.

What we did going to Norman at 8-2 with a very easy path to the SECCG and playoffs was dang near criminal.

At the very least, DeBurr should be on the hot seat. Hopefully, all of the L.A.N.K. players should be transferring before our Cheezit Bowl game so we can let the players who want to be here play.

Let me tell you this: Watch those teams getting blown out in first round, and Committe will look real bad and there will be adjustments made to ensure this stuff doesn't happen again.
We’ve had committees look bad before. And that got us here. We just need to realize whatever we had is gone. And this new whatever it is is junk.

For everyone saying that we should cancel OOC games… we lost 3 conference games and were 4 and 0 vs OOC.

Honestly think this is more of a call to schedule more strategic in regards of Non conference games. I mean we get nothing by playing a B1G because the B1G is going to get multiple teams in. We should be scheduling more ACC, Big XII, and MWC teams and get rid of the Sunbelt, AAC, and D2 teams. Because common opponents is going to be our best friend going forward.
Once the SEC added Texas and Oklahoma there was no real way out of this mess sort of fixing the college football ranking system. There are only two power conferences and SoS should matter far more than it does now.

People are treating Oklahoma like they're trash now when they were one of the best programs in college football when they joined. I always said someone has to lose and now people are fixating on those losses as though the fact that the SEC has introduced a new level of brutality to scheduling means nothing.

The only way out is a ranking system like they have in basketball, if we look at FPI, Sagarin, heck even the BCS computers (which are a bit outdated in some cases) we see a more clearer representation of strength of schedule. The committee is, as I was loudly complaining about last year, just talking wins and losses in most cases and ignoring SoS. And yes, they still suck and are still stupid.

we get all of that, but like Nick said, why make it harder on yourself? It’s not SoS, it’s W/L. Schedule real easy OOC so you don’t get beat up mentally before the conference schedule

Whatever game we will play in, I'll be watching! RTR!

I'm disappointed that SOS and Resume doesn't really matter. The SEC should go to a 4 Division format and that way you can play your divisional teams, add a couple of Rivals and then play a weak OC schedule.
We should pay the Sunbelt and CUSA 5 mil per team to schedule each one to play 4 SEC teams per year. And go to a seven game schedule. Go east/west. Play your division. And roll in with 4 teams with only 2 losses each get a bye. And then have an SECCG for 5 vs 6 to get more data points.

I do think their “fix” will be going to 16 teams in the future when they have an opportunity to change the format.Playing CFB from late August to January 20th is ridiculous. Bad for the players and for the game. This isn’t the NFL.

College Football wanted Bama out so bad that they broke intentionally broke in their first year what they said they wanted, the best teams in the playoff.

this is the equivalent of taking McNeese State last year and giving them a 1-seed in the NCAABT, and keeping Bama out because we had 10 losses.
The committee has made it well known by now its not about the best teams for the CFP.
Then again, Bama cant be too mad cause we lost 3 games, two of which were inexcusable.

I agree but wounds are raw today and I’ve said my peace on it.

I think we’ll get the Citrus Bowl which historically is a very good bowl.

It use to be where the 2nd or 3rd best SEC team went.

I just hope we get an opponent that will help motivate the guys who want to suit up for the ‘A’

“F-“ lol come on
I base that on the three losses. In all three we appeared woefully unprepared, especially the OU game where we had every reason in the world to be ready to play. Plus, we never seemed to make adjustments to try and fix a bad plan, and he apparently let his team be held hostage when trying something different might have worked out. I hope next year is better.

More proof that this committee doesn't know anything about football. This was just "let's make sure everyone gets a participation medal". It had nothing to do with putting the 12 best teams in.
It was never intended to put the 12 best, it was designed to get more teams involved and so they can expand the playoffs for the big boys and placate the little guys to avoid lawsuits or government intrusion

Agreed and I'm not sure we were one of the 12 best. Those of us with understanding, however, knew the criteria and knew with certainty we were not getting in after the Oklahoma disaster.

There really should be no kvetching about it at this point.

If the CFP is the power broker in college football going forward, then you could see some teams leaving conferences to chase bids in lesser conferences.

The SEC has to step forward and use its leverage to correct this lunacy. You dont invite Texas and Oklahoma into the conference to just cannabalize yourself even more.

I think the problem also is that the Oklahoma game was a prime time game and everyone saw it. It was a completely horrible look. Then the very next week we saw Alabama struggling to put distance against a bad Auburn team and a mediocre LSU team totally pants Oklahoma.

I think we need to stop acting like SOS is going to save us every time. I mean heck… two of our national championships we got in over teams with clear advantages over us in SOS (2011 and 2017)

What’s going to change things is if the playoffs is a crap fest because of the field. I think eventually they are going to drop one or 2 auto bids because of bad ratings.
