Mine has gone up from 62 to 72 due to gaining @15 lbs from the drug Prednisone combined with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Worked out for 2 hours this am including stationary bicycle and walking. More this afternoon. Now that I am off the Prednisone I feel better and have more energy. Pray that when the docs put me back on Revlimid in Jan-Feb for 6 months that all goes well. I need to do 6 more months as statistics show that 2 years on Revlimid really increases one's chance of long range remission, especially for those of us over 70.
 
61 , 260 pounds, fat . 5’11” resting heart rate of 56, blood pressure average 110/62. That is a picture of me in my avatar. Before a slip/fall accident In July at home, I did 3 miles @ 9minutes per on the elliptical with a machine/free weight workout three times a week, and walked 12-15 miles a day at work, (m-f). I probably walk 2500 to 3000 miles per year at work alone. I will make an effort this year to record my activity, as I am curious myself. I know when I look at the health info on my phone it is usually in the 12+ mile range with a couple of days in the 20+ mile range. I haven’t done much since my fall, Hopefully I can get back to a healthy lifestyle in 2025 . Not a resolution, just a statement.
 
Question, not that I can do it, , but what weight do you carry when rucking?
I use a 30lbs plate, but I will be dropping that down to 20lbs in 2025 as it is causing me some neck pain.

Most of my mileage is walking or running. Only about 20% of my mileage is rucking. By dropping the weight I hope to increase that.
 
I remember my military days, carrying a 40lb ALICE pack, but the weight was distributed . I couldn’t imagine carrying 30 pounds in a single plate like that.

It is in a ruck that distributes the weight well. I even have a waist belt.

When in the Army I often carried very heavy rucks, but I was 20 years old and invincible.
 
So what are your health and fitness goals for 2025?

I'm doing my standard - 2,025 ruck miles in 2025. Might be tougher this year, I've had some wear and tear issues after rucking the last six years on a torn meniscus (>14k miles in that time). Hoping icing it will help, too young for TKR, but it gets tougher each year.

What say you? What are your goals to get better?

Trying to get back to running 2000 miles. I have missed my target the last 2 years. I have torn the meniscus in both knees and was able to have them repaired without any issues. What is the reason they can't repair yours?

My orthopedic surgeon (sports medicine specialist) says this type of tear is not really surgically reparable. Apparently, most tears are around the edges, whereas my tear goes more or less straight into the middle, where there's no blood supply. You surely know more about this than me, but from talking to him only the outer third or so of the meniscus has blood supply, so stitches to the middle section are only there to hold things in place, but the meniscus won't actually heal.

He told me he could 'repair' it surgically, but that he wouldn't count on it holding. Could last six weeks, could last six months, but almost certainly would't last six years (unless I stopped working out). I go in every year or so for a checkup and he's said as long as there isn't any extra damage, I can put off a TKR as long as I can withstand the pain. Most days it's fine, just uncomfortable, but occasionally it gets pretty bad, that's when ice and compression sleeves are my friends.

I just keep reminding myself it could be worse, and Goggins would tell me to stop whining and do the work. :)
 
Trying to get back into the swing of things 2 rucks this week and another planned tomorrow. I will just have to dress a little warmer than usual. I will be mixing it up with hiking and biking as well. My goal is to get back to the shape I was in before the first accident.
