i keep waiting for our free speech absolutists to speak up

The ABC late-night host’s remarks constituted “the sickest conduct possible,” FCC chair Brendan Carr told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson on Wednesday. Carr suggested his FCC could move to revoke ABC affiliate licenses as a way to force Disney to punish Kimmel.

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

What about people on message boards?

If you are working for an employee......or in a position of influence over the youth like EDUCATORS......you simply cannot insert YOUR politics into a public platform without expecting repercussions.

More importantly.....most of this is just in poor taste, under the circumstances.

It really has zero to do with "free speech"......

Say or do something the Trump Administration and MAGA doesn't like and they won't hesitate to threaten to use the power of government against you. And if you don't acquiesce, they'll follow through or take you to court. No one is safe unless you're a Trumper, then presumably you support these despicable and frightening actions. Winning politically and suppressing dissent matters more than freedom to the Republican Party.

Then let pressure from the public handle it, not the government. Poor taste is no justification for government suppression of free speech.

Every time I read about one of these people that say something that gets them fired or suspended, I think of Talladega Nights and Ricky Bobby. They really think if they say "With all due respect" first, they can say whatever they want.
