A fundraiser for his family has collected millions of dollars.

I hate it for his wife and kids but it’s not like she is going to have to work three jobs to pay the bills. Kirk was wealthy and she should never have to work again if she doesn’t want to.

Yet a bunch of gullible idiots are sending in money. I don’t really blame her and I doubt this was her idea and if someone handed me $5,000,000 I wouldn’t turn it down.

But an appeal to donate to a charity in Kirk’s memory would have been the thing to do. I wonder what kind of handling fee the fundraiser is getting.

What's the issue with this sympathy vs empathy thing that I've seen pop up about Kirk since his shooting? I listened to the video and apparently he does't "believe in" empathy but does believe in sympathy. Says he "prefers" sympathy rather than empathy. I'm not sure why he "believes" in one but not the other. But I'm wondering why that is such a big deal? If he said he doesn't "believe in" either one of them, then I start raising eyebrows.

People who laughed at his death wouldn’t give his family empathy because he didn’t believe in it.

Another attempt at dehumanizing a person.

i keep waiting for our free speech absolutists to speak up

The ABC late-night host’s remarks constituted “the sickest conduct possible,” FCC chair Brendan Carr told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson on Wednesday. Carr suggested his FCC could move to revoke ABC affiliate licenses as a way to force Disney to punish Kimmel.

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
It’s always been freedom of speech, but not consequences. The issue is the FCC leaning on them, not a fan.

Then again the government leaning on businesses is nothing new.

"The sickest conduct possible?"

Referring to this: "The Maga Gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."? Hell, people on this board do the same damn thing whenever a right wonger goes on a shooting spree. Are they threatened by the truth?

Or maybe this: "This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a gold fish," Kimmel said.

OK, not particularly funny, but "the sickest conduct possible"?

Bottom line: This administration is abusing its authority to quash dissent on multiple fronts. Just as the Founding Fathers intended.

You know what COULD be called "the sickest conduct possible"? Pedophilia.
You really comparing posters on this board to a nationally televised show?

All it took was a man who had big breasted women jumping on trampolines to be fired to get dems to care about government overreach.

But no tribes here, got it.

Kimmel now represents the 'cancel culture, that the right has continually screamed about, is now on steroids. Nexstar, the 1st domino to fall, has a 6 billion merger in the works. That's not a coincidence and mirrors Paramount and Colbert. FCC chairmen Carr, who you can find quote after quote against this type of censorship over the years, caved to trump pressure and Disney reacted with this deplorable action against Kimmel. This IS a 1st amendment issue of free speech. When the government puts pressure on private companies like is happening here, that IS a 1st amendment issue.
Be very careful, what goes around comes around. BOYCOTT DISNEY!

Did you forget when the Biden administration put pressure on various social media platforms supresssing anyone who had questions or pushback regarding Covid? All Kimmel had to do was be a decent human being and acknowledge this for the tragedy it was. Instead he spread misinformation about the shooter being MAGA when it’s already been proven he was on the left. Right wingers don’t consider themselves fascsists and certainly wouldn’t consider Charlie Kirk one. And it’s not a 1st amendment thing…it’s not like he’s going to prison. That doesn’t mean he’s free from consequences.
You’re not helping the case.

The whole point of being conservative is less government involvement. Pointing at similar behavior from libs is not justification.

The Legion Of Karens strikes again.

Oh, and Sinclair Broadcast Group was one of the ringleaders. They are already part of the cult. SPAMing local stations with propaganda stories labeled as "news".

Jimmy Kimmel is a tool, but in this country one should have the right to be distasteful, snarky, and mean-spirited. I don't find that type of "comedy" appealing. I find it neither clever nor funny, so I don't consume it. I don't go out looking for ways to be offended. Life is too short not have worthwhile hobbies. I would hope that one day people who were ok with government overreach then but not now, and those who are ok with government overreach now but not then, will at some point realize that viewing the world through a tribal lens has led them to being dupped and played for suckers. We can do better. We must if we want to keep what is unique and precious about this country.

I'd be curious if a "go fund me" has been set up for the shooter.

It used to be.
Now, at a minimum, Trump's policies cut crossways of the bigger/smaller government divide.
Actually, he tends to the bigger government side, as long as he and his guys are in control.

Speaking of tribes, the hack with a history degree (Richardson) has yet to correct the record on who exactly it was that killed Charlie Kirk and why. I told you: she is not going to do it. We'll have our own "Heather Held Hostage" countdown until the truth sets her free.

"Trump never admits he's wrong."
Neither do most of his critics, oblivious to the hypocrisy.

Here's a hint: if I can't trust you to tell the truth about something that is happening in real time, why in the hell should I trust you about something you claim happened because you read some books about 1875?

"History is supposed to make you uncomfortable" never looked so true as it does now.

Meanwhile, I will enjoy President AOC taking left-wing revenge in just a few years with all of the tools the "right-wing" has given her.

I may be wrong, but I suspect Kirk himself wouldn't approve of a lot of what's going on his name.
