2026 Basketball Recruiting

I know these guys don't grow on trees but a Victor Wembanyama prototype is the ideal type Center in Oats style. Someone who is elite at rebounding and rim protection but also has the skill set to shoot 3's and win off the dribble. Not sure how many of those types exist in the world but you would think we could find one and that person would also see how Alabama would be the perfect fit for them.

Wouldn't go that far but he is definitely a once in a generation like talent. My point was more the skillset than it was the player. For instance, Yaxel Lendeborg would be unreal in Bama's system. He is good but not a one in a million type guy. The players we need are out there we just have to have the resources and wherewithal to go out and get them.

I think those players are very few and far between. CNO is an excellent recruiter. If you are this 7 footer who is a beast in the paint with a beautiful 3 point shot, you'd walk on broken glass to sign a scholly with Alabama. But the fact we've not landed the "perfect 5" in this many years just tells me they are like a unicorn.

What to do? Settle for the 7 footer who stays in the lane. The recruit 4 other starters to shoot the lights out! Kinda like Cliff, but bigger and stronger!

Think clif and beds are good fits, need the defender and pick and roll to just throw it up for the dunk. Didn’t have that this year excluding those few games. Agree the perfect fit is a unicorn. Think he keeps tweaking scheme to make it easier to have a fit in the middle though.

He’s got to have 1-3s that will crash the boards instead of watching each other’s three point shots.
