They came across as loud and into it on TV tonight. One time they showed a section in the upper deck and those folks were rocking and rolling.:Smiliz_Kingz_PDT_02

On TV, it looked to me as if the south endzone section, where the frats sit, never got full, not sure why. There seemed to be a large chunk of that section that remained empty. Other than that, it looked good and the crowd seemed to be into the game until the end.

At the risk of this thread turning into a "Bash the Greek Section" rant (And trust me, I was 100% GDI when I was in school), my guess is that they really didn't want to sit in the cold for what they probably thought was a foregone conclusion of a game.
The President, Coach Moore, don't like the fact that there are plenty of students who want tickets, can't get them, and plenty of empty seats, and with the upcoming expansion, will be forced to expand the student section.

Okay, so I just got back from the game. I can verify that the cold had some impact on the number of fans. During the 4th quarter, there were some empty seats for sure. It was bitterly cold and started raining briefly.

However...the fans very much took to heart Coach Saban's admonition to get loud. Everyone seemed to be aware of the challenge and, in my opinion, rose to the occasion. Don't know how it came across on TV, but it was rockin' in BDS.

Particularly in the first half, I thought the crowd was responsible for 2 MSU false start penalties. The fumble/bad snap was also a product of the noise, as the QB looked like he was trying to communicate to the O-line when the ball was snapped. I wouldn't doubt if the bad snap on the safety had something to do with the noise in the North endzone.

I was just wondering how the atmosphere was?
The crowd was great. Never heard a State crowd that loud. I think Coach Saban got the message across. It was obvious on MSU's first series.

As for the student section, if the students want to make an argument for having a bigger section, they need to show up for the games. I'll admit I was a little frustrated to see the big gap there tonite. If 10-0,playing against an SEC team that has beaten us 2 years in a row, isn't enough of a motivating factor to fill the student section, then they should consider shrinking it instead of enlarging it.

The noise level was much, much better........

However, it should "not" take the head coach to admonish the crowd to get them to give love to thier team, should it?

Now that we know that we can make a "big" difference in the our team's play, please, please show your enthusiasm by clapping, yelling, whistling or whatever will make noise so that the other team gets confused and often will get rattled and get a penalty for movement or even a delay of game penalty, etc...................

You just have "no" idea how proud I am of our Bama team and their efforts this year and what they have done on the field and off the field.

While some of the teams' players are getting punished for some infraction by the coach, our team is playing to their potential and just keep on "truckin" toward 12-0 and the SECCG with the Gators in Atlanta!

........and, since none of the so-called sports pundits/experts think that Bama has "no" chance of winning the game, I want our fans, coaches, and players to pay attention to that fact and make them eat those lack of support for the #1 team in the nation with "no" losses!

Go Bama, beat the VPI of Alabama!:BigA:

i know..... I have been to a couple of games including homecoming and it wasnt full at all .they say that bama has the largest student section in college football. No disrespect but they need to shorten and open some of the south endzone and allow some of use that are on the 6 to 8 year season ticket list the option to purchase .. Just a thought hopefully with the new expansion to come the list will shorten????????

I don't do much bashing, but not finishing a game where your beloved school is going to move to 11-0. Not being able to sing Rammer Jammer to the high heavens. Not being able to see the look on Sly's face. Not being able to witness the first time in over 25 years that we win a home game while #1. And not being able to see Coach Saban give you the "thumbs up" for creating an awesome atmosphere.....Well, that's just ridiculous! :mad2: I say if they can't make it through the game, then take away their ticket!

I was SEVERELY disappointed in the student section last night.

On a night with weather conditions like those, I can understand some fans leaving in the 4th quarter. Sure, it's disappointing but I could see where it just go to be too much for some.

But my issue with the student section was there were LARGE gaps, seemingly entire groups, who did not even bother to show up for the game. We're 10-0, going up against a team we haven't been able to beat in 2 years and haven't scored a touchdown against in nearly 4 years.

Before we expand the student section the administration needs to come up with some sort of a plan where the seats are actually used and preferential treatment isn't given to groups who won't use their seats game in and game out.

Personally, I would like to see a setup like Duke uses for basketball where folks are lining up for seats a day in advance, or some sort of lottery the day before where tickets are emailed out to folks, with a stand-by system that if people aren't in the stands 30 mins before the game their tickets are voided and re-issued to people in a stand-by line.

From where I was sitting it looked like there were a lot of people standing in the aisles in the greek section. When I was a student the police officers walked the aisles to make sure there was no one sitting/standing in the aisles (made you move or leave) as it was a fire hazzard then. Is this still the case? Not defending them by no means as I was a GDI while in school, but if the students standing in the aisles in lower part of the stadium are actually in there seats, it would have made the stadium look fuller. And for the record, I think they need to do away with block seating alltogether.

Maybe this isn't the case but it seems like the greek section has a lot more seats than the other part of the student section. Anyone know why this is? I say take away some of their seats and give them to other students who routinely pack their section.

BDS still could have been louder. I was in the north end of the stadium and there were still some people that never cheered. The crowd as a whole was much better but still needs improvement.
