And, the choice is - Kamala Harris...

It is really hard to say due to Biden hemming himself into the cynical IDPol ploy about his VP being a woman during the debates. It limited his viable options to help him electorally as most of the high qualified women come from states/regions that are solidly blue. Stacey Abrams may've been the...

And, the choice is - Kamala Harris...

As bad as this ticket is in my estimation, Biden was one of two in the primary that I thought actually had a shot before all this mess. No doubt that Trump has got to go but in the safe confines of Alabama I may consider a 3rd party vote. I could not suggest the same to those in a swing state.

And, the choice is - Kamala Harris...

Very bad selection in my opinion. Should've been a selection from a swing state. She's not particularly popular at the national level which is why she bowed out before the primaries even began. She's incredibly easy for the right to make cynical "punches from the left" over her relationship to...

Nick Saban says Crimson Tide football players safer at Alabama than 'running around at home'

That’s kinda the rub though...these guys are elite athletes so little degradations to their body’s performance can be substantial. So many unknowns. As much as I want to see ball this Fall, you aren’t going to catch me being a ride or die guy for it.

Will there be a National Championship game for 2020?

You reckon the 1943 Notre Dame team feels any apprehension about that 1943 AP national title considering many teams across the nation could not field football teams due to Army/Navy regulations on athletics participation of their trainees?

Will there be a National Championship game for 2020?

Posted it in another topic but if the ACC+Big-12+SEC alliance holds up then I imagine there will be a playoff with the 3 champions and an at-large that is probably picked by a metric or a coaches vote within the 3 conferences. The Sugar Bowl will host the SEC v. Big-12 game and the Orange Bowl...

B1G Football & Fall 2020 Sports Postponed to Spring 2021

I don’t think they play in the Spring if the ACC, Big-12, and SEC end up playing in the Fall. Even if they do end up cancelling, I don’t think Spring ball happens in any satisifying way due to the NFL being unlikely to play ball with moving their calendar to maximize draft-eligible player...

CFN: College Football Conferences: Who Will Play In 2020, Who Won't? The Best Guess Is...

I think the ACC, Big-12, and SEC play a full season. My guess is the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl end up hosting a 4 team playoff w/ the 3 conference champions and some sort of mostly metric-based at-large bid to play in the Orange Bowl v. the ACC champion.

News Article: Time to face reality: ‘No one is playing college football in the fall’ (or are they?)

This is the crux of where I'm coming from at the moment. We're not going to know 100% what the true risk level is until the after action report but at a certain point there is too much accumulated risk factors for the schools to compete. The "#WeWantToPlay" crowd has gotten a lot of press...

With that said, when I say "alarming" I don't mean "sound the alarm, shut'er down" but, as you say, it is really hard to get the messaging right. "Alarming" to me means "don't dismiss this one it could be meaningful."

It is not new but COVID-19 appears to have a higher rate of this complication compared to H1N1, flu, etc. Early days with limited studies but data is alarming.

    Paying Players

I agree with this in abstract but there are plenty of things we need highly educated people to execute so we can be a highly functioning society but the labor market circumstances for whatever reason do not recognize their necessity. The obvious example are educators and entry-level college...

News Article: Time to face reality: ‘No one is playing college football in the fall’ (or are they?)

Listened to Dan Carlin’s latest Hardcore History podcast on the Pacific Theater of WWII. He started it off with an personal anecdote involving his family about the West Coast War Scare in the months following Pearl Harbor. I can’t help but think in the future some of the precautions may seem...

    Paying Players

I don’t think the payments end up being as large as some may think and it may come at the cost of some fringe support structures. It is hard to guess what those may be...I’m guessing the barber shops and such may go the way of the dodo. And lets be clear, those fringe benefits were explicitly...
