Wow, It’s Saturday, not everyone lives for Tidefans, Not on a non sports weekend anyway. I don’t know you, but from your angry words, maybe you should take a Saturday off too. At least back away and take a breath.
Oh, heck yeah they do.

Every time I go so far as innocuously typing H-E-double-toothpicks in a thread, I'm reminded by great powers and furious weapons that there are people who read every word and syntax in this forum. And threaten to bring down the powers of Heaven and Earth on me if I deign to commit that heresy again. :D

It’s clearly too soon to discuss politics while discussing political assassinations.
I check Breitbart occasionally for laughs. And it's usually the prime source of the circus stuff emanating from the MAGA cult.

Well, this issue isn't laughable but Breitbart was pretty predictable. Calling the shooter the "NO KINGS SHOOTER". As if the shootings had anything remotely to do with the protests.

Yes, the Facebook meltdown of:
a) he had "no kings" stuff in his car
b) he was appointed by Tim Walz

And always carefully cutting out:
"Has a list of 70 Democratic officeholders and abortion providers, including two he shot"

The excuse?
"Well, they didn't show us the list."

Next step in that parade?
"The deep state made up the list" OR
"That list was generated by AI"

Re: willfull ignorance

Some of us may remember the 1983 SNL skit/series/satire about Buckwheat being shot. I find myself recalling one of the background segments of this bit, in which a person from the killer's past is interviewed and the response is along the lines of

"He was a good kid...hard worker...always showed up on time..."
"Do you believe that he shot Buckwheat?"
"Oh, yes. It's all he ever talked about."

That was some of the best stuff from SNL. I hadn't thought about that bit in years.

So the murderer made 4 stops.

First stop - he wounded the first couple - but they survived.

Second stop - no one was home so he left.

Third stop - he was parked out in the street, noticed, approached, and contacted by law enforcement, and then was "allowed" to leave while said law enforcement checked on the residents, (who were not home at the time same as the previous stop?)

Fourth stop - noticed, approached, and contacted by law enforcement, then he killed that couple and escaped.

===============

I generally back the blue but sounds like these murders may have been prevented by a little different law enforcement tack at that third stop.

Wouldn't bother me so much but so far these pressers sound more like cheerleading sessions or pep rallies than anything else.

==============

And ultimately it was a citizen's report of seeing him in the area that lead to the discovery of where he was "hiding".

=============

Do I have anything wrong here?

I will admit to being a little shocked they found him alive.
Assuming he really did it (and the evidence I've read is pretty damning), I wish he'd saved us all the trouble and killed himself.

If Minnesota has the death penalty, do it. If they don't, life without parole in the general population.

Minnesota abolished the death penalty in 1911.

Maybe federal, but it looks like we'll be paying for this guy's stay in the iron hotel for the next 25 years.
25 years in gen pop is cheaper than the 19-20 years he would spend on death row anyway. Besides, there's always the chance he'll get a shiv between his ribs regardless.

They are going for the DP on Federal charges.

I'm not a fan of the death penalty, but I won't shed a tear if this guy leaves this mortal coil so suddenly and deliberately.

Yeah, same.

I used to be a fan of it until I looked at it closer. That said, when you have no doubt, the only question is whether you leave earth Smoking or Non-Smoking.

I also opposed the death penalty, until I realized that in order for human life to have any intrinsic value/meaning there must be the most severe penalty for heinous crimes such as these. IOW, you can do something that requires the forfeiture of your life.

In this case, based on the surface evidence I have read, the bar is passed and if/when convicted he will pay that penalty.

Did the officers let him go because he was dressed like them?

Im all for supporting LEOs but my experience with LEO in my line of work has been very underwhelming bordering on laziness. Sheriff and their deputies are better. But even still you dont experience real law enforcement until you engage with the FBI or Secret Service.

It appears to have confused them...
