Donovan kicks NIT-bound Gators out of $12 million practice facility

We agree to disagree on on Phil! (Sorry, I did it again!) Point 2: All offenses do require that; some offenses are simply less flexible with respect to player decision-making. For example, an offense built on structured plays requires a set number of reads and decisions based on the designed...

Donovan kicks NIT-bound Gators out of $12 million practice facility

For the record, my posts that were deleted above did not contain profanity. They did, however, contain sarcasm and facetious statements, and I apologize to Ldlane for those. As noted, Florida's in the NIT Final Four, and, win it all or lose their next game, there has been a change in the tenor...

    Bruce Pearl's story

I'd like to know when it became "OK" to subvert rules in an out-of-the-ordinary manner. Everyone drives 56 in a 55 mph zone, but does everybody rob banks? I'll admit that there's probably a little shadiness in every university's recruiting, but I don't think the majority of programs are buying...

    SEC teams in tourney

That's Memphis' entire philosophy. Bulldoze anybody in your way on offense, body up on the ballhandler on defense. Joey Dorsey shouls have fouled out in the first half, with Robert Dozier not far behind.

Glad you gave Gottlieb some credit. On second thought, if you hadn't, he might have stolen it anyway. *rimshot*

Official March Madness Games Thread !

Speaking of refs, I like the way Belmont was incapable of reaching in fouls, over the back fouls, etc. It seemed to me that the refs wanted to keep Belmont in it late. Duke did nothing to help themselves, though. Missed free throws, sloppy play, etc. Duke is lucky to get to Round 2.

Donovan kicks NIT-bound Gators out of $12 million practice facility

What's all this talk about "fear"? AFAIK, there are no reports saying that Donovan abuses his players by beating, hitting, kicking, or threatens them with physical abuses. I think "embarrassment" is being misread as "fear." One of the things young people hate the worst is "disrespect," as...

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

The more you type, the more obvious it becomes just how little you know about this topic and -- maybe -- about the college basketball landscape in general. Florida fans had very LOW expectations, according to all media reports out of the Gainesville area of late. I believe the most frequently...

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

Perfect comparison. He's doing things that might hurt their feelings and might affect recruiting. That was one of your earlier arguments against this decision by UA. Now you're crawfishing on it. The program is bigger than any 1 (or 15) players. If they wanted to play in the postseason, they...

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

I keep pitching 'em and you keep missin' 'em. My point is that you CANNOT use your "bad bowl" analogy. UA is obligated as a member of the SEC to accept a bowl bid in football, and UA has a choice to accept NIT/CBI in basketball. It's apples and oranges. So, UA NEVER has to pay to reward a...

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

KrAzY3, There is a distinction between THIS particular collection of players and the PROGRAM as a whole. I'm sure it would make the current players feel warm and fuzzy to get to keep playing; it would spare them the embarrassment of sitting at home while their contemporaries play ball...

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

The players "voted" not to play hard for over a month's worth of games in the SEC regular season. I am, quite frankly, not interested in what the players want at this point. As they watch 113 other teams play postseason basketball, maybe they will decide to play with intensity and purpose...

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

This is another excellent point. It also ties in with my earlier point: even a crappy bowl game makes $$ for the Athletic Department, gets televised nationally (thus exposure for UA).

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

    1. What Alabama has done in the past (i.e., pre-Gottfried) is irrelevant to this conversation. Alabama has not declined an NIT berth since Gottfried became head coach. 2. Basketball not a major priority? How about multi-million dollar renovations to Coleman Coliseum? How about funding...

Ideas/predictions for CBI (?) or NIT

This is the biggest bunch of bull I've heard lately. The new CBI Tournament is, in essence, buying more games. Why should the University buy more games for a team that didn't want to play hard in its "free" games? It shouldn't. IF this team had played with heart, effort, and desire in...

    Poor SEC Officiating

If you've ever been unsure about SEC officiating, you should watch the end of OT in the UGA/UK game this morning. UGA's player flattened the UK player and *no call*. The refs simply swallowed the whistle. That's a poor show of officiating. I hate to agree with Tim Brando, but IF that's a...

    Bama vs Florida gameday thread

It was a win. That 30-point margin did get pretty thin at times, though. Florida is an inexperienced team that played poorly in SEC play and beat up on cupcakes back in the Fall. Don't mistake this Florida team for last year's or the year before's. Florida would have been lucky to get in the...

Since it's obvious he is staying..... what should Mal demand??

You can't mandate that 6 players will play (or 5 or 7 or 8, etc.). If Moore is going to "mandate" such things, he might as well fire Gottfried and coach the team himself. Also, to say "ban the High Post offense" is not an acceptable answer, either. There's nothing wrong with the High Post...
