I am also going to have to say 10-2. I believe we are 7-0 after beating Ole Miss but once again we play 8 games in a row before the week off.

The 8th game is against Tenn in their house with them just coming off a bye week. Also they remember this year so that will be a tough one.

Then we have a bye week and play AT LSU, them also coming off a bye week and looking for revenge.

As I scrolled down the list I see Florida but dont really pause and think about it. Is that a bad thing to look at the schedule and see UF as just another team? Am I being to confident for that game?

I say 11-1. It is hard to meet expectations and fight apathy. Hate to say it, but UT scares me next year. Despite their current troubles, they'll be better and hungrier than this year. Plus, that is right before our off week again. We'll be tired and looking forward to that off week.

Guys and gals, we are just going to get better. This is just the beginning! Next year we will have a team that has more CNS recruits than not. His first real full recruiting class are true sophmores and redshirt freshmen. CNS said himself we still don't have the talent on board that he left at LSU. Think about that, we're about to play in the national championship game and we don't even have the talent level he wants to get to yet. It's really hard to imagine this I know, but it's only going to get better than it is now.

We're going to be incredibly talented again next year, but a combination of things make it difficult to predict an undefeated season. IMO, playing @ LSU and @ UT make the even years the "bad" ones, adding Florida for Kentucky doesn't do us any favors, and 6 teams get the bye before they play us. I'm going with 11-1. We'll be a favorite in every game next year but if you're a 80% favorite every time out, you're supposed to lose at least 2 games. Undefeated seasons are special. With all of their recent success, Florida has never run the table and Pete Carroll has had one undefeated season since his run started at USC.

BTW, I reserve the right to adjust my projection upward if Rolando comes back for his Senior year...

I'm going with 10-2. Two of those 6 bye-week opponents to end the season will get us.

The only way we go 12-0 is if our offense plays at a 2001 Miami-like level and just dominate teams. We don't really seem to have that tendency to blow away teams which makes the prospect of a few teams beating us in close games with two weeks to prepare likely.

10-2, but still good enough to win the West if we can just beat the right combination of teams.

I'm a glass-half-full guy so I see no reason why we can't pull off the hat trick of 12-0 regular seasons. The schedule is tougher, particularly in October as bamahuey pointed out, but we should be better too and with good luck with injuries, it should be doable.

GMac should be even better, our RB situation will be even better and the O-line should be better too. I also look for our receiving corps to be improved. Most of our losses are on D, but with Coach Saban, I'm not gonna worry about it too much with the talent he's gonna plug in.

I'm really going to miss Javy, that little dude is a baller in so many ways and a great leader too, but I'm sold on "the process" so I'm thinking he'll be replaced, even if it might take 2-3 to do it. :)

And let's not forget that this will be the 4th year of Coach Saban recruits and their MHAQ mindsets. Reminds me of another coach we had around here for a long time. :p_green:

I know it's only the beginning, be the chances of us going 10 seasons undefeated is a little unlikely. Look at USC. I dont consider them a power team or anything, but for their conference they are. they had dominated their conference year in an year out. this year, their conference got a little better and they got worse. same coach there. i hope bama doesnt have that coming!

We are more than likely losing Ro McClain (hopefully not). He's like the on-the-field coach. he'll be hard to replace. i think the secondary will be better next year, but doing the 8 game stretch without a bye week will hurt us a lot, unless our team can find a way not to lose momentum like they did this year. SC is going to be better next year too. that Alshon Jeffery guy is a playmaker! I think we struggle with them more than Fl.

I remember last year we were wringing our hands over losing the qb of the defense and wondering who might step up and McClain became the next leader. Even if he doesn't come back, I'm beginning to believe that part of the process is CNS finding a guy to be the qb of the defense every year. With the stockpile of linebackers and dbs I'm thinking someone will emerge again!

Unless Mal can get the scheduling bye week malfunction fixed...this could be a long season for us "12-0 prognosticators". I said 10-2 but could see us going from anywhere 9-3 to 12-0. If Saban can somehow put together back-to-back-to-back 12-0 years, that would simply be amazing and unfound. I have already braced myself for a less than stellar year next year due to the stars being aligned against us. I hold hope in my mind that we can continue to be "unbeatable" but evenually this run has to come to an end, and unfortunatelly the Powers that Be obviously want it to be sooner than later.

*I retract my statements and prognostication if the bye week fiasco can be evened out!

I'm very realistic as the next guy, so I didn't mean we would go undefeated for ten years. My point was that this team is only going to improve from this point forward. How will that improvement impact our team? Depth.

CNS has quickly developed some serious depth, but as he said we aren't as deep as the team he left in red stick. I would venture to say that in two years if we played the same schedule we played this year we shouldn't struggle as badly as we did this year down that stretch. You will see more of an ability to substitute without drop off in talent across the board. For example, this year we had Mark, Roy and Trent in the backfield. There was some drop off in production down that stretch with Roy because of his injury and Terry wasn't healthy so there was a stretch with no real back up to Mark and Trent. Next year we're going to have Mark, Trent, Eddie, Jalston, Terry and the drop off is going to be less and less between them. Repeat that scenario on down the roster and you will see what I was saying.

Again, I was not saying we will go undefeated until the end of time. I'm just saying we will continue to have a more talented team as the years roll on. The past three years have been the least talented teams CNS will field at Alabama and that's pretty scary, especially if you live in Lee county. :eek2:

All the seniors we are losing on D with the exception of Javy and Ro are being replaced by more talented people, and this year we won't have to start a frosh (Nico was a freshman and we had to start him). Oh, and that Dont'a guy is back. Sound like an 11-1 season to you? Didn't think so.
No offense, but I completely disagree. We are losing a LOT of starters on a top notch D. Right now, we lose our entire starting DL, 3 of 4 starting LBs (I expect Ro to go pro) and 4 of our top 6 DBs (2 starters, nickel back in MJ and dime back in Sharrief), with the possible departure of KJ to the NFL too. That is a lot of talent leavingand while CNS has recruited very well and we are almost to the point of reloading rather than rebuilding, losing those seniors is going to hurt. I don't think we have a bad year, but 11-1 is my optimistic prediction with a more realistic one of 9-3/ 10-2.

If that gets fixed, I'd be confident of an 11-1 record too. 6 teams with a bye before us is just a monster disadvantage that can't be overlooked. I'm glad Mal got it on the agenda, but I really doubt anything comes of it b/c it would require all those teams to reorganize their schedules.

i'm gonna say 9-3. I would love to go 12-0 again, but I hate to set my expectations high and then be disappointed, so I will set them low and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. :BigA:
If your expectations are lowered, your results will also be. Always set the bar high and strive for it. There is no shame in striving for perfection and just coming up a little short. However, striving for lower expectations and meeting them is not that great.
