Alabama QB competition article

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

You gonna have to interpret...

Like a song, there are so many ways you could interpret it.

Remember how often the offensive linemen were blamed for our crappy offense last season? I suppose they didn't like that one bit. It was very interesting that all of a sudden they would play better when #13 came on the field.

Here's a lineman watching Tua walking through that door with a bit of a sly grin and an attitude. Looking at each other, the qb and the lineman, and they looking like they mean to do some business. Could be the storm brewing to blow through the entire Southeastern part of this land.

I don't know. I did say take it for what it's worth, but you asked for my interpretation, so I'm going with that.

I think the major point isn't the photo, but Leatherwood's comment of a storm brewing. It's his caption, though, and he could have used any picture or no picture at all.

I didn't see the caption. Now that I've read the caption and put into context of the picture. I take it as "The Storm" in part is Tua and the players already know who will be behind center Saturday.

I wouldn't read too much into it because snapping a picture of someone in motion can capture a still shot of a point in the motion and make it look like something it was not.

Agreed that I wouldn't read too much into it at this point. The only thing I'll say is I'm pretty sure Leatherwood and Tua are friends IIRC.

OK, thanks for the answer/explanation. FWIW, I think we've entered "tin foil hat" territory now.

But, since we are there, what I think is more telling is that in the mirrow image behind Tua his head is shrouded in a halo. BOOM! There's your answer!!!

This thread has just become a testament to the fact that we can say the same things over, and over, and over, and over and never get tired of it.

Also notice who "liked" the pic (Najee Harris). If it were a negative vibe regarding Tua starting I highly doubt Harris would have supported it with a "like".

The irony of your post is that you are repeating what many people in this thread have already said. :)

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

If, and I emphasize if, CNS decides to start Jalen or rotate him in the first couple of games with Tua, I believe the only reason for him to do that is to allow the team, media fans and most importantly Jalen and his dad to see (first hand) that Tua is the better distributor of the ball and that the offense runs more effeciently with Tua at the helm. This is the only reason I can understand why CNS would choose to put both of them out there because he really believes this can/will be settled on the field in games 1 and 2.

I doubt Coach Saban feels the need to let the fans or media or anyone outside the team see who the best QB is. He and the team already know who that is. Coach Saban rarely justifies his decisions like that. He just does what he thinks is best for the team.

I think he'd probably say: "It's my decision and I made it, aight? I don't need your approval. It's my job, not yours, to decide who plays and who doesn't. You guys (talking to the media) are going to say what you're going to say about it anyway. So why do they need to prove it on the field in the first couple of games? It's already been proven in fall camp. That's on the field, isn't it? That's why we practice every day."

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I love good detective work in figuring out what was meant by the pic.

It's apparent that Leatherwood is looking not at Tua directly, but at his reflection in the mirror.
How does 13 appear in the mirror backwards? Sigma iota.
What does sigma iota signify? Sum (sigma) 9 (iota = 9th letter of the Greek alphabet).
What is the sum of 9 + 1? 10
Who wears number 10? Mac Jones.

WAKE UP SHEEPLE THIS IS BASIC STUFF

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

Also out of those 10 in-completions how many were drops?
Look at the national championship game. Jalen went 3/8 for 21 yards in the first half. I don't honestly remember who he passed to Im thinking it was probably 2 to Ridley and maybe one to a back. Tua goes 14/24.
Reception totals at end of game:
Ridley 4, Ruggs 3, Robert Foster 3, Damien 2, Sims 1, Hentges 1, Jeudy 1, Smith 1. A total of 9 different receivers caught passes in the game.

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I don't think the picture has to do with QB battle. It was a mirror picture and Tua just happened to walk in.

Again, I was just speculating (kinda what we do here) but my main point is that what CNS does may simply be what he told Tua and Jalen he was going to do. If that involved PT at the beginning of the year, then he's just staying faithful to what he said.

Of course I fully agree CNS can decide when he wants to decide. But if he told them they would both have a chance at the beginning of the season, maybe he's just doing what he said he would do. We are obviously only operating on limited info and are not privy to what he may have told the.

I'm said repeatedly that I'd just play Tua, but if CNS chooses to let Jalen and Tua both play meaningful snaps, he's got a reason that maybe we'll never know.

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I figured out the "meaning" of the picture.

Leatherwood plays on Tua's blind side...RG and RT

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

I think I've decided to just blindly believe Tua will start. It helps me sleep at night lol. Every logical argument I can think of as to why Jalen would get the first snap doesn't really hold up in the end IMO.
