Alabama QBs in 2024, II

Buchner was simply awful.

It's hard to see how he ever was a starter at any major program.

And instead of taking one last stab at QB at even an FCS program, he chose to play lacrosse.

Truly bizarre.

He got a ring.

Let me go ahead and get it on the table before this thread gets heated back up. We closed the "Milroe working with Jordan Palmer" thread because of several posters' inability to discuss the quarterback situation in a way that was productive to the topic. As stated in that thread, there will be very little leeway for this topic moving forward. Depending on the moderator and their discretion, the poster in violation may have their post deleted, put on vacation, or both.

I'm happy for him. Lacrosse is an awesome sport, and he hadn't played at a high level in almost 5 years, but earned a contributing role as a line 2 SSDM and from what the coaches were saying, has the potential to grow into a 2way Mid or O-Mid role as he continues to re-grow those skills back.

Lacrosse is an awesome sport. ND went from never having won a NC before last season to winning two in a row - impressive considering how good the teams they beat are.

After watching Maryland just destroy UVA, I really thought that MD had a good shot to edge out ND, but ND just had totally different ideas about that. 3 of MDs offensive starters are from the ATL area (2 literally right around us), and one of them coached my little guy one fall season so we were kinda pulling for them...

This is brilliant. The way we get the QB discussion back on track is to talk about the 3rd string QB that left us.

Seriously, good for him.

I really hope we hear nothing about the QBs for the next couple of months. Hopefully they all are busy with summer passing skels and getting familiar with the new kids who just arrived on campus.

A realization came to me today watching Milroe at the SEC. Just from observation I have come to believe that Milroe is generally a very gregarious individual who knows no strangers whether it is $100 Million dollar man Nick Saban or a group of under privledged kids in the inner city involved in an organized sports day. I believe that many of the key members of the team genuinely love Milroe and want to play with him win or lose. They could care less about another QB who they likly see as "born with a silver spoon" It is what it is and and this in the quandry Deboer has to deal with. He is left with no real option.

I don't disagree at all about JM's likeability and contagious spirit.

However, I will point out that TS was a coach's son who was not "born with a silver spoon."

FWIW, I really don't care who starts as long as, in the judgment of CKD, the BEST QB starts.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jalen Milroe and the offense in action. It's gonna be fun. I expect we'll see Ty Simpson and Dylan Lonergan some in the second half. Maybe Austin Mack too.
I wouldn't be mad about that, but really I'd like to see JM and TS get most of the snaps. Try to get them both as ready as possible for Wisky and Georgia.

It’s his job to play the best player at each position.

His option is to play the Best QB.

If he doesn’t because of another suspected revolt then we picked the wrong guy.

If anything like 2023 USF happened again I’d bench every one of them an take the 7-5 season.

I really don’t care about our record this year tbh.

I want our team culture to be corrected.

I don't understand why people think if CKD starts a QB that fans don't think is qualified that he is caving into what the team wants to avoid a revolt. I trust his decision either way and but, I think Milroe will start on Day 1.

Right now I think it's more external pressure to just go with the incumbent than internal.

It's still way to early to tell what this team's dynamic will be or to have any idea how CKD handles things.

If I were betting money on it I'd say that Jalen starts Game 1 too but that other guys get playing time as well.

Basing my opinion just on the Spring and who WR's chose to throw to them for Pro Days I feel like Ty Simpson is the Best QB on the roster.

If we truly have competition I think he will take over the job at some point barring Jalen having improved a LOT in a LOT of areas from Spring to Late Aug.
