Reportedly he was late for in home visit with Spurrier and he only visited for 15 to 20 minutes. (247Sports reported this)

Interesting !

I put a tweet about this in the Clowney thread. I'm wondering who was late. Spurrier or Clowney? It says, "He was late." Is he Clowney or SOS?

I'm getting old RTR91. I looked for that link and missed it. I think I need bifocals.

That is a very good question. From the post on twitter, it could go either way. It seems Spurrier was late since Clowney was reporting it to 247.....if I were interviewing him and he said he visited with Spurrier for 15 to 20 minutes and he was late........I would take that to mean Spurrier was late. But very good ? I would be EARLY for that visit. Actually, I'd be on time. But I wouldn't be late.

According to the USC boards it was JC that was late. He was involved with something at school and could not be at the start of the meeting. Also it was a little odd that his HS coach did not sit in the meeting. Apparantly him and CSS are not the best of friends. The HS coach was at the CNS meeting at Clowney's home for the visit last week.

Wait a minute. Clowney was late, and Spurrier didn't stay longer? Seems like he would make an exception on how long he stayed if he really wants Clowney.

Some seem to think we have a good shot at Clowney but I have my doubts. I think we'll finish a close second but he'll end up at USCe. I think it shows how good of a recruiter CNS is that we're even as close as we are with him. But if we could get him...wow...what a huge pick up that would be.

I agree with that assessment. In fact, that might be why Spurrier left when he did. Clowney's mom wants him to stay close so she can come see the games. Clowney just wanted to see if USCe was competitive and they proved they are. Kudos to CNS that we are even in the mix for this kid. I could wish we finished first, but I seriously doubt that will happen.

youre only allowed a certain amount of in home time with each recruit, which starts ticking even with only the mother present. if spurrier were late they would not have lost time, it just would have gone later into the night.

Ok I was wondering if that was the case. Seems like Clowney would have wanted to spend plenty of time with CSS.

Spurrier was early, and Clowney was late. He was not at school, but having his hair braided and it took too long.

I think a this point it was more about CSS trying to make sure the mom wants him at USC. Most believe a main reason for him going to USC is his mom and wanting to stay close to home. Not to mention JC has been to USC alot this fall and has a good relationship already with CSS.

CNS was the first coach to visit Clowney in his home last week and reports are that it went very well. Clowney has scheduled official visits to FSU on 1/7 and Bama on 1/14. He has already taken one official visit to South Carolina back in November. Out of the five total OV available, he has four left to take. Besides Bama and FSU, it appears his last two OV will be between Clemson, LSU, and Auburn. Clowney is saying that he does not have a favorite and he will make his decision and announce his commitment on NSD.

First post. Join the fun, say something else.

I live in SC and sentiment from USC fans I know is that JC is heading to Columbia ... they have felt this way for a long time. IMO, the longer this plays out, the better shot Bama has and the more nervous USC becomes. If some boards are correct (big if) it appears that Bama might be turning away some top-rated talent due to numbers which leads me to believe that Bama, as another poster observed, has a good feeling for who is coming in. Interesting more are the positions of those that were reportedly told they would need to wait to enroll (Hart/Carradine (sp?)). May be connecting too many dots and albeit long-shot but holding hope for both Crowell and Clowney. Also hoping that KS and Bo stays ... with all the turnover going on and perhaps some yet to come, a more stable environment might win the day big time.
