Bama Should be Top 5 Sleeper

Isn't the National Title game returning to the Rose Bowl?

It would be a nice return to our old traditional ways.
If we were to be able to make it to the Natl Title Game I believe we will do it with one loss, which would mean that just about every other school would also have to lose at least one. If this does happen lets hope that the men involved in the coaches poll pick the right team, becuase it will be yet another controversy ridden year.

Bama would compete for the SEC West. I don't think he said win.

I thought the system worked perfectly last season. USC and OU started out #1 and #2 and went undefeated. They logically should have been in the title game.

Heck if Bama won the NC I can think of a few who would
streak straight across the Barn campus not to mention
the quad!

I'm holding both of you to that. I think I would do the same. I'd come down from Tennessee just to streak across the Quad too.

I think the "sleeper" is talking about for the National title/. I think if we win the NC it would be a shock to even the biggest Bama fan.

Oh ye of little faith.

Last year would have looked totally different if Croyle and others stayed healthy. LSU is the only team I saw that could have beaten us. USC? A blowout. Arkansas? Tough, but a Bama win. UT? The same. Auburn? Win at BD.

It would surprise me, but not shock me, to see a healthy Bama contend for the SEC and perhaps an NC.

We have some excellent young skill players, particularly at wide receiver. RB and OL depth is suspect but a healthy passing game takes the heat off while our young RB's and our OL get up to game speed and take the heat off of Darby. Don't be surprised to see BC fling it early and often with great results.

Our defense could be the best in the country next year. Again, we are thin in spots but with a little luck....

We have the tools. We just need a little luck.

I think the defense could win us the West, and maybe the SEC. I think depth and injuries will make or break this season. With Croyle healthy all year, we can win most of our games because of the excellent defense. Without Croyle, we could lose too many low scoring games. Our defense will keep us in the games as long as they stay healthy.

If injuries hit us very hard at all, we could lose 5 or 6 games. Depth will obviously continue to be a problem for at least one more season. I think every week we play a top 25 team will be a crap shoot. We could beat any team in the SEC or we could lose to Arkansas and get killed by LSU. I believe it's all about Brodie and keeping our first string 95% healthy.

Dude, we were gonna beat LSU last year with a far inferior team, until the BS no call pass int. We would have went up 20-6 if I remember correctly. That would have absolutely sealed the game, bc they couldnt move the ball consistently at all on our D, except when they were playin with a short field.

Count LSU as a win last year, had everyone been healthy. RTR

If Bama wins the NC, I won't be streaking anywhere because more than likely I'll be working on my second bottle of Jack in celebration.

Which, for most, leads to a moment of streaking. :biggrin2:

While watching Trev Alberts' piece on Sportscenter, I noticed that tomorrow they are doing the most overrated teams....and guess who was shown....our friends in Knoxville. ;)
I really believe that Tn. is overrated not by their talent or team chemistry but because of the brutal schedule (road games) this season. Fla. LSU back to back and Bama and N.D. later would make even southern cal cringe. The dogfights every year in the SEC will make any good team seem a little over rated.

I don't think UT is overrated one bit, but I agree about the schedule. As hard as it is for a Bama fan to admit, you guys are poised for another run. I just hope one or two SEC teams are sticking their nose in the mix next season. I am sooooo sick of hearing about the under-achieving SEC. And where did all these ACC lovers come from? Sheesh!

Bama's offense must include a lot of 3 step drops with slanting patterns for the WRs. Hall will be excellent for this type of throw as he has appears to have no fear about going over the middle. This will help protect the OL from having to block too long. The inexperience of the OL is the main weakness not their potential. Brodie's ability to get rid of the ball quickly either in the quick pass or to Derby will be very important. I'd like to see a lot more use of the TE in the passing game like Algie Crumpler is to Atlanta.

Tennessee's pass defense was the worst in the SEC by nearly 10 yards...with Vandy coming in 2nd to last.

That will be their downfall.

You may be right, but you remember how bad Bama's 2003 defense was?

At no time was Bama in position to go up 20-6 in that game.

Alabama vs Oklahoma in the Rose

Call me crazy or what ever but if the Tide stays healthy the entire season the team will play for a National Championship in the ROSE BOWL. With teams like Tennessee that have talent but not the coaches. Florida has the Offense but lacks the LB/DB as a package. One year away from kicking some butt. S. Carolina doesn't have the players needed in Coach Spurriers plans. About two years away. LSU may be the coach with the best all around team. But QB will be their down fall. In another year the West title will between Alabama and LSU for sometime. Awburn had a great none NC season last year and that will not happen for many years to come. About every ten years the tiggers have a really good team but no title even if they are undefeated. Oklahoma looks real good this year even with White gone. Texas may pull it out this year but if not Mac Brown will make some changes to correct the problem. Stoops is an intelligent coach and will do what ever it takes to win a game. Yes the sooners fell flat last season and finished third. This happen to Florida vs Nebraska but the next season Florida came back and Won the NC. Oklahoma will try and repeat what Florida was able to do. BAMA's weakness may be the offensive line but I do not see any problems after they have two games under their belts. If you hit quick scores as the Tide can do that helps to mature the line and give them confidence. I am not crazy, I just expect Alabama to play for the National Championship.
