i think i'lm in the minority here but the problem is not gottfried. the players totally are not doing a good enough job. now i do think gottfried has to go. he has lost the team, and the fans. they dont play for him. but good god justin knox and coleman are not SEC caliber material at all. Knox moves like he's 60 yrs old. torrence turned the ball over on his own at least 3 times i recall. thats not counting how uncontrolled he is driving to the basket and putting up horrible shots. the problem wasnt that gottfried didnt know what he was doing. it's that the players we have arent very good imo.. Green will be good but right now he has very little strength to go toe to toe with the rest of the SEC. rant over..

well yeh i agree totally. i should have said it's not totally gottfrieds fault. he's not nearly as good of a recruiter as he's given credit. but he's not nearly as bad a coach as he's thought to be.

The thing that is most frustrating to me in watching Gottfried-coached teams is the seemingly lack of adjustments made at halftime. Over the past few years, I don't know how many games I've watched where our guys will have played well the first half and come out with the lead in the second half, only to see it erased in a matter of minutes. Today....more of the same. You could see it coming.

i put my knowledge of the game up there with anyone. i stand by my quote as our team not having enough talent to win. i'm not saying gottfried is great but he is far from a horrible coach. i'm saying he's not the only problem. you have to have some type of talent to win ball games unless you are a hall of fame coach which he is not.

There is no excuse for poor shooting from the charity stripe, especially in a close game. That is one of the things that can be worked on and coached up to. The players get in to big of a hurry when they shouldn't and that causes turn overs. When they should push the ball to get quick buckets its like they are afraid to pull the trigger on the shot.

We have enough talent to play them - and most teams we play - even or better for 32 minutes every game...

I'm sure there will be some complaints about the officiating. While the officiating wasn't the best, the play on the court wasn't either, too put it mildly. The officiating wasn't the reason we lost. Poor transition defense, poor half court offense, poor free throw shooting, and poor shot selection in general combined with 19 turnovers is a recipe for disaster. We shot less than 30% from the field,around 60% from the free throw line, and had 19 turnovers. The main reason we didn't get beaten worse was UK shot less than 40% from the field and had 23 turnovers.

Too bad we can't call the games at halftime. :biggrin:

he may not be the worst coach, but he is a terrible ceo. he has lost the team and the program.

i sat behind the bench for a game last year and those kids paid no attention to him whatsoever. not at all. during timeouts he was talking to himself.
