I tried everything to get the game in some fashion but couldn't.

But you really don't need to listen or watch to know what's going to happen.

I wish to goodness Bama Basketball/Gottfried Corporation was a public stock. I could make a fortune. In my entire life I've never seen anything so predictable.

Close or ahead at the half, lose the lead early or midway through the second,
and end up getting blown out or losing the lead late against any team that's even half way quality.

As far as Gottfried, my son attended his camp for two years. He is an incredibly nice man, a good man.

That doesn't translate into being a good basketball coach.

He is the worst, by far, in the SEC. And the sad thing is, I don't know if there's really a close second.

The buck always stops at the head coach's office. Whether we lose because of poor talent, poor coaching, or both is irrelevant...a loss is a loss. The job is not getting done for whatever reason, and it's CMG's job to see that it gets done. If he can't do it, we need to get someone who can...plain and simple.
If your gonna take the money, you gotta take the responsibility.

if u think we have some talent start naming it please. anybody other than green.

..THIS is for Ten Million Dollars on "Who Wants To Be A MILLIONAIRE"..

"Answer this correctly and you'll win the money"

Here we go..

The Coach who recruited the current Alabama Basketball team roster is

A. Donald Duck B. Frank Sinatra
C. George Bush D. Mark Gottfried

"Gamersfuel you have two lifelines"

I'll take the 50-50

"O.K., eliminate two of the answers"

Dah doop

A. Donald Duck
D. Mark Gottfried

I'd like to ask the audience.

"O.k., audience, cast your vote"

Dah doop

"Gamersfuel 100% of the audience voted Mark Gottfried"

Regis, I'm gonna go with Donald Duck

Dah doop

"Ahhhh, I'm sorry Gamersfuel....it was Mark Gottfried, but you did win $32,000.00...congratulations and thank you for playing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"

Okay. We have a team of no-talent hacks. Pitiful. I mean p-i-t-i-f-u-l. Go into any YMCA in America during lunchtine and randomly pick 5 guys and THEY are more talented than Bama.

How come we manage to play good, competetive basketball for all but the last 4 to 8 minutes of a game?

"fuel," this is going to be one of those agree to disagree matters. I think you're going to be astounded when a new guy takes over - with this same talent. I'll give you one little example. I played BB for five decades, until I was 62, against much younger opposition, almost all of whom had played small college ball. They were better coached than what we're showing. We had one weak pass picked off after another. Why? Because we never look off and we never fake before we pass. If a guy fakes, then you've got to honor it by holding position, or you've got to take a chance on getting embarrassed to his weak side. We don't do either. Never! K-jelly today knew that when our guards started to turn their torsos, that was where the ball was going to go. Presto! There the defender is, sitting right in the passing lane. Take away that one very fundamental mistake and we win the game. It's not even good pickup BB. With that, I'll check in later. I'm going to listen to a evening of live Beethoven and forget this mess...

GF, I feel your pain. But pick your poison:

Either CMG is a vastly overrated recruiter.

OR

He's a weak developer of the team concept and individual talent.

OR

He's a poor game-day strategist and motivator.

I'm sad to say all three criticisms stick. So many of his so-called blue-chippers lack basic basketball skills. They come in with holes. They leave with them, too.

Exceptions, sure. Mo Williams. Who else?

Ronald? He didn't get better. He got run into the ground.
Chuck Davis wasted a year on the bench and almost left the team. Gerald Wallace -- he played out of position one year, left and learned to play in the pros. He is so embittered by his experience he won't even mention the school.

Richard? Erwin? Jamareo?

Or how about Rod Grizzard? Easily one of the most physically talented players who's ever played in the SEC, much less Alabama, and he played completely out of control. In fact he was more out of control as an upper classmen than he was as a freshman. Coach Mark Gottfried was paid $1 million to coach the University of Alabama basketball team, and for three years Rod Grizzard ignored him.

When he had talent, he couldn't control or develop it. When he doesn't have talent, he can't coach the kids to transcend their weaknesses.

Those kids out there are Mark Gottfried's kids. He recruited them. He's coached them. He's taught them. They are his embodiment on the court.
If he's not ultimately responsible for how they play, who is?

Enough.

Completely agree with all of this. It seems like we get incredible athletes, but they aren't fundamentally sound basketball players. Wimp recruited similar players, but they were well coached and played defense. I'd love to see Alonzo Gee and Senario Hillman play football!!

I disagree that we have no talent. I bet CBD would at least win the West with this same team. Tide-HSV, you can help me out here. You and I have been talking about the BB team for the last few years and pretty much agree on all points. I agree with you now. How many Mr. Alabamas has come thru Alabama? Including the two time winner Mr. Steele. It is totally CMG's fault. Most of his players did not approve while they were here. We will take FT for example. The only way these guys improve on their FT is that they were good before they got here. He totally miss handle RS. He played him into the dirt. There is no sense in playing a kid 98% of the game. Tim Brando took up for CMG and said that it was not his fault he only had RS has his Point Guard. I say bull. Other coaches usually develop more then one PG at a time. I can right a book on the last eleven years but I am not. Basically you have the same story every year but different characters except for one.

By the way, did the NCAA made some rule changes this past year?
I guess players are not allow to bounce passes, hit FTs or big men are not allow to run down the court to defend the fast breaks. Just wondering.

Not sure what you mean with "disagree.". That was what I said...
My bad. I was disagreeing with the post before yours (the same one you were disagreeing with)

This is the post I was disagreeing with

I'm sure there will be some complaints about the officiating. While the officiating wasn't the best, the play on the court wasn't either, too put it mildly. The officiating wasn't the reason we lost. Poor transition defense, poor half court offense, poor free throw shooting, and poor shot selection in general combined with 19 turnovers is a recipe for disaster. We shot less than 30% from the field, around 60% from the free throw line, and had 19 turnovers. The main reason we didn't get beaten worse was UK shot less than 40% from the field and had 23 turnovers.

Too bad we can't call the games at halftime.
Same song, different verse.
Officiating doesn't have to be bad all game long..........just strategically placed bad calls, or in last night's case, NO calls are what hurt us more than anything.

There were way too many bama players on the ground for "no reason" apparently........I feel mostly for Hillman, he couldn't get a call at all last night.
