Re: Alabama's BCS Football Tropy Shattered
With as many trophies as we have, I'd imagine people are tripping over them all the time.
Funny story about that. Long read, but worth it!
My friend and I went to the Bryant Museum for the first time a few years back. I had to hit the restroom, but there was a long line to pay to get in the museum. So we went up to one of the workers and asked if there was a restroom we could use before paying. Well, she lead us through an office and into a back hall towards a restroom. Along the way there were the typical pictures and file cabinets lining the walls. But around the floor and on top of the file cabinets were trophies. Trophies LITERALLY stacked on top of trophies. So many it was clear that they had nowhere else to put them, so they just stashed them in this back area.
I remember one was Coach Bryant's 1973 (I believe) SEC Coach of the Year trophy. And there it was, just hanging out on top of a file cabinet like it was no big deal. I kind of had this re-realization of just how much history our university has. All these trophies that would be proudly displayed in glass cases at other universities were just collecting dust in a back room of our museum because there was no room for them among all the others. Pretty crazy to think about...
