Biggest Loser Today May Be the Barn

Listen, if the goobers go undefeated and win the SECCG, then they deserve that they get. I will give them credit where credit is due. It the polls and computers have them in the BCSCG then I suppose I will root for the SEC goobers, not that rooting for the Camsters will be an easy thing to do, but I think I can do it. Why not. It is not like our 13 NC's are in the balance.

Two teams I could never root for are Auburn and Tennessee.

That said, as an SEC fan, I will be proud if the NC streak continues this year.

Sound like a politician, don't I??? ;)

My question is this. Will ya'll actually root for Auburn to win the SECCG or the BCSCG (if they go)? I'm not so sure I would or could :eek2:.

WHAT!?

Pull for the barn to win a championship?

I know for damn sure I won't!

I can not root for Auburn...ever! Just thinking about it causes my blood to boil and my head to hurt. People that claim they can must not have been here when we were down. If they get to the NC this year I can very easily root for the ducks. Auburn didn't pull for us last year...not once. They wanted us to fail and I am just returning the favor this year...it's only right.

I don't want enough talent to win - I want enough talent to win CHAMPIONSHIPS. And having another SEC team with a BCSNC on its resume will, without a doubt, make that more difficult. Having that team in our state will make it much more difficult.

There is a lot of talent in the South, but not enough to keep this many teams on top.

I don't run into many Barners here in Virginia so I don't get the day-to-day hassles that most folks receive from 'em. That probably colors my thinking. That being said, if Auburn makes it to the BCSCG, I'll be hoping they win. No tears if they lose... but I'd rather see 'em win. An Auburn win would mean four different SEC teams win 5 BCS championships in a row. Four different teams!! This would virtually ensure that any future one-loss SEC team will get a berth at the BCSCG. That could be us next year...

OTOH, a very bad outcome would be for Auburn to get a berth in the BCSCG and then have Cam declared ineligible. A Cam-less Auburn gets buried by whomever they play.

The above post raises a bothersome issue for me. I always look for outcomes that work to Bama's advantage; and in the area of recruiting I understand and agree with the above post. But in the end, I think the stability of Bama's situation will compare favorably with what I think is going to be a turbulent period for Auburn these next few years.

I occasionally peruse the Auburn boards; I read the venom directed at us last year. And during our years in the wilderness. Bottom line is that Auburn just doesn't matter enough for me to get worked up about 'em. The real opposite of love isn't hate; it's apathy. I love Bama. I spend no emotional capital on Auburn.

Much of this comes off the table if Bama can beat Auburn. I don't see UGA doing the job in Auburn; they'll be undefeated when they come to B-D. If Bama can win, Auburn still goes to the SECCG. But a one-loss Auburn team leaves the door open for the pollsters to slip TCU into the BCSCG ahead of Auburn. IMO no way TCU is better than Auburn... but that doesn't matter. Pollsters will want to preclude the chance for a vacated win in the BCSCG; best way to do that is for Auburn to not be there in the first place.

It starts with Bama beating Auburn. A long shot... but maybe.
