All that needs to be said:

Brent Calloway quote:
“I’ve seen the depth at linebacker at Alabama, and it’s stiff,” he said during an interview with Rivals. “And there are guys who are twice my size, and who have played this position for so long now. So that’s why I’m making a point where I say, hey, I should just go (to Auburn) and play running back.”

so he is going to Auburn because he is afraid he is not good or talented or smart enough to compete with the guys already here? oh well, good luck elsewhere with that guiding you. Does that mean he will transfer somewhere else if auburn has a good recruiting class next year?

In a way, I think this shows our program is a victim of it's own success--we are getting more and more great recruits thanks to Coach Saban, we are finally going back to nationalizing recruiting like we did in the Bryant years, and all this is going to ultimately scare off some elite players that don't want top notch competition. At Auburn, Calloway will be haled as a hero and a stud horse on campus. At Alabama, he'll simply be another very good player among many, as such he will blend in with the crowd.

I'm disappointed that we lost him and there's no question we wanted him, but we don't NEED him. We'll simply replace his slot with another very good player.

Sorry we missed on him. Hey, he wanted to be a RB and we wanted him as a LB. Life happens. Good luck to him personally... although I don't wish great things for his new team...

This all makes perfect sense now. I hate that he's not coming to UA but realistically he would struggle to make the field at Bama. There are guys like Sunseri that are even smaller than him but have knowledge of the position and are gametime ready over him. It would take him a long time to get some exposure and at AU he could probably get on the field some next year. Good luck to him and hopefully you miss tackles in the iron bowl

You call it being scared. I call it being a realist. TomAYto. TomAHto. Check this out. Here's who's on the roster next year at all linebacker positions including Jack LB

2008 - Dont'a Hightower 4* , Courtney Upshaw 4*, Jerrell Harris 4*
2009 - Nico Johnson 5*, Tana Patrick 4*
2010 - CJ Mosely 4*
2011 - Trey DePriest 5*, Shannon Brown 4*, LaMichael Fanning 4*, Xzavier Dickson 4*

And that doesn't count the 3-star guys like Petey Smith, Jonathan Atchison, and Vinnie Sunseri. That's definitely a crowd. And like he said, he's definitely undersized...and we wanted him to play safety. He may not be comfortable with that. At Auburn, all he has in front of him is Dyer. He's a twisted ankle from seeing the field at the position that he wants to play.

And here's something to kind of put this in perspective. We've burned 21 pages on this kid. You know how many times a year we have to worry about him? 1. Meanwhile, we have a talent rich class coming in that we are going to concern ourselves with from the time they fax in their LOI until they play their final collegiate games. Just sayin..

We need to stop he could recommit i don't care either way. This rubbed everyone the wrong way. But lets look at getting publicly the second time (the first was the beginning of the week) dee hart(who was the first rb ever to get 100 yards in the game) and looking at we still will finish strong really strong. Hey saban is our coach and only wants competitors.

Since he wants to play RB I say we got a helluva deal because we just dumped a 2-star for a top 4-star RB that EVERYONE would take without question. RB=Hart<Calloway

I'd take this trade ANY DAY!

Brent may eventually make million$ as a pro RB but, with his size and athleticism and the coaching of CNS, he could have been a prized pro safety prospect.

I hope the barners havent misled Brent about being their "man" at RB just to get him to switch...........everyone knows his "money" position is on defense.
