How can a guy commit to someone for two years, visit the university numerous times, get to know the players and coaches and then decommit at the last minute. Something is fishy. I wonder if his name is mentioned in the FBI Lowder or McGregor tapes.
i assure you all will come out my friend

I'm not worried about Calloway anymore. We just let a kid go that didnt want to play the position that gets him on the field and possibly get him NFL money. So all I can say is goodbye sitting the bench at the barn, because he wont be their feature RB for sure. Plus picking up Dee Hart at RB more than doubled the help we needed at the position. We can find a OLB to cover his spot that already knows the offense. I've also heard alot about Calloway that I brushed off from a Russellville person that is a huge Ole Siss fan and he was dead-on about Calloway. He said he never thought Calloway looked like a 5-star at all on offense or defense.

Sorry, but I call BS!! No one who has this kind of opportunity to go to BAMA and is a TRUE fan would EVER give up and especially not go to the barn! I don't wish him luck. To me I think he'll fit right in down at the crappiest village on the plains. If he was half heartedly going to Bama we don't want him anyway. To me some of his comments shows he isn't willing to WORK for what he wants.....

Come on!!! Really?? You are talking about an 18 year old kid that is trying to make the best decision possible in reference to what position he wants to play...you sound like you have a case of sour grapes...it's just a game!!! and I love Alabama Football as much as anyone! We will fill the spot with someone else!! Have faith!

Look I'm hoping most everyone is thinking the same thing that I am:
This kid was doing what he thought was best for him not for us. If he wants to go to Auburn b/c he thinks he will have a better chance at reaching his goals, great for him. There is no need to bash a kid for doing so. I am whole-heartily a huge fan of Bama, but I will still wish him good luck even if he goes to Auburn. Nobody knows him nor do they know what he wants truly. I understand its the way he did it, but what would hurt worse? Him doing it at the Army game 3 wks before NSD or on Feb 2 NSD? Umm... I would say NSD. It better when he did it b/c now we can go out and pursue some other prospects a little harder. I'm just saying, lets all grow up a little and not say anything until we know all the facts. Thanks, thats just my 2 cents.

I bet Saban goes after 5* Curtis Grant out of Richmond VA. According to Scout.com Curtis Grant is ranked #3 OLB and Calloway is #7 OLB...

I would not be surprised to see Calloway try to switchback in a couple weeks.

Scout.com: Curtis Grant Profile
I would love for us to get Grant but I think it's too late for him. His top three are OSU, Virginia and Virginia Tech and hasn't really talked about Bama for a while. He was one of the best defensive players at the Army All Star game and would fit in great at Linebacker U but seems like it's too late
Yeah I'd love to get Grant too but it's just not going to happen, like DurdenTider alluded to. We don't need to fill Calloway's spot with another LB anyway IMO. We'll fill it with somebody good you can rest assured of that however.

Ill throw my 2 cents in since i played at Russellville. Different coaching staff now than when I was there but the talent pool is not deep at R'ville and anyone worth anything played both ways full time when i was there. The talent pool has gotten smaller since i left. I wont clarify that because i dont want to tick people off but its true. No way a 5 star kid only plays one way at R'ville unless the coach has some weird reasons or the kid didnt want to. And yes my QB played safety and one rb played lb while i was there so we didnt rest ball carriers then. I say the kid didnt like defense plain and simple. That or the coach steered him into playing rb alone.

And next i will say that all 3 years i played there our rb's killed local competition and had similiar numbers as Brent. Thats true almost every year at Russellville. They have a great program in an area with little competition where most schools dont take football as serious as R'ville. Yes there are 1 or 2 exceptions but the level of competition there is nothing like South Alabama or B'ham region. Thats why in the last 20 years R'ville has lost every state title game they have been in, and thats at least 7 or 8 of them. All three years i was there we lost to the eventual state champion in the 4th and 5th rounds. Perfect example of that is R'ville playing J Fowler's team year before last in the championship game and gettting trucked. Fowler totally outclassed our rb. I say all that in order to put in persepective his rushing stats. It aint all that folks. Dude on my team did that and he didnt even get a scholly. So who knows what he grades at the rb position but he's no 5 star rb. 5 star lb maybe. But who knows because he didnt play lb this year. I checked like 9 games into the season and he had 7 tackles for the year. So Brent was definately a huge ? on our recruiting board this year and I said so several times. Him being in the final group for best HS lb this year was a joke.....unless they were counting last year's performance as well.

He may turn out to be an All-American, who knows. But by no means was he vital to this class of recruits. I would have put him around the 8th place as far as importance goes. Unless he would have played safety. Then he would have been pretty dam important. I just hate to see a fellow R'ville kid turn tail and have to go thru probation because he didnt want to work for his position.

I think the funiest part for me is reading back through some old threads on other boards. When he commited to us and while he was commited all these same Tiger fans that are excited now about him coming there were crowing about how he did not deserve 5 stars and how over rated he was. Now he is best of their class. Go War Crows. RTR

Exactly. Who's to say he wasn't the next 5 star to NEVER see any meaningful playing time? I can almost guarantee you that CNS would put him in the place he would most likely succeed in the SEC and beyond. WHy do anything else? If the kid disagrees now it's much better than pouting and fussing and burning a very valuable scholly. I would have liked for him to not wait nearly two years before this but like coach says, "It is what it is."

I can't believe we have posted 26 pages on this kid, would like to have had him, wish him all the luck in the world, but it's time to let the barn deal with him and for us to talk about some recruits that have relevance to BAMA! JMO
