Re: Carlos Dunlap arrested for DUI (out for SECCG?)
You don't think domestic violence against women is as bad as DUI? NOW and several other feminist organizations were up in arms. Phillips drug her by the hair down three flights of stairs, into the parking lot and beat her. 1996 may not have had a 24 hour news cycle like now and wasn't dominated by ESPN quite as much, but still this was a pretty big issue and received quite a bit of publicity. Nebraska won, Phillips went on to the NFL to flop and Osbourne got elected to Congress. I think the outcry from playing Dunlap would be much less than what Osbourne faced. Nebraska fans were happy with their back to back NCs and didn't care.I don't think the '96 media is in anyway the same as the '09 media. If this were something other than a DUI they may let it die, but in todays world a DUI is a very serious matter. The sports media may drop it, but I'd bet there are orgs out there like MADD and SADD that are watching the developments.
