If you have talent, you have talent. Clowney could go to South Carolina State and would be a top 10 draft pick. It's the total sum of your career. Look up how many sacks and TFL DaQuan had since he started (freshman year).

You may be right. It may also be that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. All a coach can do is coach. He can't make a player want to be great.

I think that in no way did Saban hire Rumph because of his ties with Clowney.

I think he hired Rumph because of his ties with so many many different recruits in South Carolina
which has suddenly become a hot bed of talent.

But primarily I think he hired him because he's an outstanding defensive coach.

He had to have been targeted to be hired so quickly.

I think we did good.

You guys should ask Clemson fans their thoughts on Chris Rumph and what he has done for their line progression.

With all due respect, we'll ask CNS what he thinks. Wait...The answer he gave is he hired him. As others have said, there is no way CNS hires a guy to try to get one recruit, he liked something about him and since he's a DL coach, I guess that's what it was.

+1 Just like CNS didn't take "theguythatwenttoCAL" last year to get his brother.

i understand your upset about your season but lets think about who saban has hired so far..... and i believe three maybe four assistants have been contacted about other coaching jobs. saban doesnt just jump the gun and hire people so i will trust him.

Which USC fans are disappointed? IMHO poor decision, the guy has squandered such great talent at Clemson. It took DaQuan 3 years and his father passing to finally live up to his potential, and Maliciah Goodman has either been an over-hyped or under coached player considering what physical tools he has. I mean he was hired when Gaines Adams graduated so don't give him credit for that either.

Saban must see something that I don't and that's why he's getting the mega bucks and I'm not.
Thanks for the concern, but we'll be fine. You see, our head coach can coach-up not only players, but coaches as well. Botta bing, botta boom...

Dude can coach - look at team stats defensively. Also, the talent level at Bama will be much higher. Him being close to Clowney is gravy on the biscuit.

I'm really not worried about Clowney going to South Carolina as much as I'm concerned about him going to Florida State..

Jimbo, and his good ole boy personality is looking like it's pretty attractive to Mom's of top prospects.

He's kicking some butt down there. We'll see what happens.

Clowney isn't going to FSU. He will likely stay at home because of mom and attend USCe. Hiring Rumph can't help us make a late push though.

Fixed your post for you.

I agree with you that Clowney will not be going to FSU. I think Rumph will give Bama a good shot of hope that if Clowney goes anywhere besides SC it will be Bama.

Thing that I believe is important to remember when Saban hires coaches is that he typically gets a coach that's already seasoned that is excellent in his field (Pendry/Sunseri) or a good young "coachable" coach who can also recruit (both attributes are necessary). Especially with the younger coaches, Saban does more "coaching the coaches" than most HC's. Thus, from whatever folks are saying about Rumph, maybe Saban sees that good combo of attributes.

Just leave. And leave now. Why are you even here?
